Fruit Fresh Up Cut Fruit Recall Overview:
- Who: Fruit Fresh Up, Inc. is voluntarily recalling fresh cut fruit and vegetable products and ready-to-eat dips.
- Why: The products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
- Where: The products were processed in New York and distributed to neighboring states.
Fresh cut fruit, vegetables and dips sold under multiple brands are being recalled across New York and surrounding states, as they may contain listeria.
On Mar. 20, Fruit Fresh Up, Inc. issued a voluntary recall of all fresh cut fruit and vegetable products and ready-to-eat dips that were processed at its Depew, New York, production facilities. The products may contain Listeria monocytogenes, the company said.
“Consumers who still have any of these products in their refrigerators are urged not to consume the product and to discard it immediately,” the recall says.
Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems.
The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits. No illnesses have been reported in relation to the products being recalled so far, the company said.
Fruit Fresh Up Contamination Discovered on Services Where Products Packaged
The recall includes fresh cut fruit, vegetable and dip products sold under the Wegmans, Fresh Harvest, Lexington Co-Op, Tops and Fruit Fresh Up brands.
The fresh cut fruits and vegetables are packaged in clear plastic containers with a Best By date between Mar. 5, 2022, and Mar. 23, 2022. The recalled ready-to-eat dips are packaged in 7 oz. clear plastic clamshell containers with best-by dates of Mar. 15, 2022, to Mar. 31, 2022.
The company said it discovered the presence of Listeria monocytogenes on some surfaces where products are packaged.
Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
In February, a listeria outbreak that caused at least two deaths and 13 hospitalizations nationwide was linked to Dole packaged leafy greens with health authorities warning consumers to get rid of the recalled packaged salads.

Please add me.
Add me to the list. I just purchased some pineapples in a clear plastic container. Everyone should receive $2,000.00 plus due to the negligence of these companies because we don’t know adverse symptoms that the consumers has already received regarding this issue.
I buy fruit in plastic containers regularly. This is very alarming.
