My Bouncer Little Castle warning overview:

  • Who: The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a warning to consumers who own the My Bouncer LIttle Castle.
  • Why: The basketball hoop inside the castle poses a serious risk to children. One child died after becoming tangled in the hoop.
  • Where: The My Bouncer Little Castle warning is effective nationwide.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced that consumers who own the My Bouncer Little Castle should immediately stop using and dispose of the toy. According to the commission, the castles are potentially hazardous to children.

The commission explains the bounce houses have a yellow and green basketball hoop inside the castle. However, this feature allegedly makes the bounce house unsafe, and poses a serious risk to children playing inside the house.

Tragically, a four-year-old boy died after becoming entangled on the basketball hoop, the My Bouncer Little Castle warning says. Reportedly, the hoop twisted around the boy’s neck, cutting off his breathing. Another child also became entangled in the hoop, but was not injured, according to the commission.

In light of these incidents, the CPSC subjected the basketball hoops to testing to better understand their safety and risks. Reportedly, the toy did not pass the voluntary standards outlined by the American Society for Testing and Materials.

My Bouncer Little Castle warning advises customers to dispose of product

Because of their potential dangers, the CPSC advises caregivers, parents and other owners of the My Bouncer Little Castle to not sell or give away the castles. Instead, it advises customers to dispose of the castles in such a way that prevents other children from accessing them and possibly endangering themselves.

The bounce castles have been on the market since around April 2013 for between $100 and $200, the My Bouncer Little Castle warning states. They have been sold under the name “My Bouncer Little Castle” and possibly other similar names.

The CPSC’s advice to discontinue use of the “My Little Bounce Castle” follows the recalls of a number of children’s toys for potential issues related to contamination from lead and other toxins, fire hazards and other issues.

Individuals who are aware of an injury associated with the bounce castle or other consumer products should report the incident on www.SaferProducts.gov.
