foundation bottlesAccording to consumer reports and reviews, many makeup foundation and skincare bottles may be faulty and not allow consumers to get all of the product out of the container. Multiple beauty and skin care companies including L’Oreal, Maybelline, Revlon, and Dior have been accused of using product packaging that breaks easily or makes it impossible for consumers to use all the product they paid for.

Reviews of Faulty Foundation and Skincare Bottles

Consumers across many platforms, including beauty blogs and Amazon product reviews, have posted about their foundation and skincare bottles being difficult to use or empty.

Amazon consumer reviews of L’Oreal Paris skin care products and face creams including L’Oreal Face Moisturizer with SPF 30 and L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Eye Renewal contain many complaints regarding the faulty dispensers. According to one customer who purchased the facial moisturizer, they used it for two days before the top of the container broke.  Another customer claims that the bottle stopped pumping within the first week of use.

Other consumers who purchased L’Oreal products have left comments including “I have no complaint about the actual moisturizer, but I am disgusted with the delivery system. I have received three and on each of them the pump mechanism stopped working before the product was half gone. Really bad packaging.”

Another Amazon review noted, “I like the product, but unfortunately the full size product is in a pump bottle – pump mechanism is cheaply constructed and doesn’t work for a cream this thick. A squeeze tube, like the sample, would have been better. I had to break into the bottle and dig the product out and transfer it to another container.”

Who is Affected by These Faulty Products?

Experiencing difficulty in removing lotion and makeup from foundation and skincare bottles is so common that many how-to guides have been posted online to help other customers get the most of their beauty products. One woman posted several photos on Reddit showing how to dismantle her Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup bottle in order to remove a large amount of liquid foundation that otherwise would have been thrown away with the “empty” bottle.

However, many foundation and skin care bottles are not so easy to take apart. This may lead to a large percentage of the lotion or liquid makeup inside of them being thrown away, simply because consumers are unable to access the liquid. According to laboratory testing, as much as half of the product in these containers may be routinely thrown away due to the faulty pumps.

If you have purchased a L’Oreal, Revlon, Maybelline, or Dior skincare or liquid makeup product and were unable to finish the product due to a faulty pump mechanism, you may be able to join a class action lawsuit and pursue compensation for these defective foundation and skincare bottles.
