TikTok to Pay $92M in Nationwide Settlement of Private User Data Collection
- TikTok will pay $92 million to settle a class action lawsuit that claimed the video-sharing app illegally collected its users’ personal data — including the data of users as young as 6.
- If the Court approves the settlement, 21 proposed class action lawsuits, most brought on behalf of minors, will be resolved.
- The class action lawsuits revealed TikTok allegedly hid its data-collection and -sharing practices.
- In addition, the app shared user information with Facebook, Google, and other companies, the class action lawsuits argued.
- As part of the settlement, Tiktok will no longer record users’ biometric information or track their locations.
- The nationwide Class is estimated at 89 million members.

Walmart Sued By Employees Alleging Unpaid COVID-Screening Time
- A recent class action lawsuit alleges Walmart requires employees to arrive at work at least 30 minutes before their shift in order to go through COVID-19 screenings without paying them for that time.
