Zara USA Inc. has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit alleging it violated federal law by printing more than the last four digits of credit card account numbers on receipts it provided to customers. If you were provided an electronically printed receipt at the point of sale when you made a purchase at a Zara store, and the receipt displayed your credit card’s first six digits, you may be entitled to payment from the Zara class action settlement.
Plaintiff Erjona Vasquez initially filed the credit card receipt class action lawsuit against Zara in April 2015, alleging the retailer violated the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA) by printing the first six digits of credit and debit cards’ account numbers, in addition to the last four digits of the account number, on receipts provided to customers at the point of sale.
Vasquez filed the Zara class action lawsuit on behalf of herself and other Zara customers who received receipts that were not compliant with the rules established by FACTA. She sought $100 to $1,000 per willful violation, as allowed by FACTA.
Zara denies that it willfully violated FACTA but agreed to settle the credit card receipt class action lawsuit to avoid the cost, risk and delay of litigation. The Zara class action settlement was preliminarily approved on Nov. 12, 2015.
If you wish to opt out of the Zara class action settlement, you must do so no later than Jan. 22, 2016.
UPDATE: On Mar. 8, 2016, according to the Zara settlement website checks will be mailed out to Class Members no later than April 5, 2016.
UPDATE 2: On Apr. 4, 2016, Top Class Actions readers who submitted timely and valid claims for the Zara settlement began receiving checks worth as much as $500.
Who’s Eligible
Class Members of the Zara FACTA settlement include: “All persons to whom Zara USA provided an electronically printed receipt at the point of sale in a transaction occurring inside one of Zara’s stores in the United States, from December 17, 2014 to April 27, 2015, which displayed the credit card’s first six digits.”
NOTE: You are included in the Class if you used a debit card as a credit card without a PIN. If you used your debit card with a PIN, you are not eligible for benefits from this class action settlement.
Potential Award
Up to $100 per transaction. The actual amount each Class Member will receive depends on the total number of valid claims filed.

I just got mine today. Unfortunately, check void date was May 16,2016, it’s already a week late. I couldn’t encase it :-(
I called looking for my check and was told check was returned. I was ask to send a written check reissue. I mailed reissue request 3rd week of April. On May 15 I called again because check still had not be recieve was told check was mailed Friday May 6 I was to allow 7-10 business days to recieve check. Check arrived on May 16…with check void date of May 16. I requested another check and my request was denied. If there is anyone else who feel violated and denied your portion of the settle please send a complaint to the court. Anyone who uses USPS for mailing out a check Friday May 6, 2016 ask u to allow 7 to 10 days for a check with a void date of May 16, 2016 clear did so with a malicious intend to prevent actual cashing of the check
That is just wrong. File a complaint with BBB. Also try calling the lawyers office directly and tell them you will complain to the court as well.
See, what number did you call? Thanks
Does anyone remember if this required receipts or not? thanks
i got check yesterday 96.00….dated 4-25v
