Top Class Actions readers are starting to receive settlement checks in the mail from a class action lawsuit that alleged Zara violated federal law by printing credit card receipts that showed more than the last four digits of the card number.
According to reader comments and posts on the Top Class Actions Facebook page, Class Members who submitted timely and valid claims for the Zara settlement began receiving checks worth as much as $500 on April 4, 2016.
If you filed a claim for the Zara class action settlement, keep an eye on your mailbox because you may soon be receiving your payment!
The Zara settlement resolves claims that the clothing retailer violated the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA) by printing receipts that showed too many digits of the credit card number.
Plaintiff Erjona Vasquez originally filed the FACTA class action lawsuit in April 2015 over allegations that Zara printed more than the last four digits of credit card numbers on receipts in violation of federal law.
Zara denies that it willfully violated FACTA but agreed to settle the lawsuit to avoid the cost of further litigation.
Class Members of the Zara settlement included all U.S. residents who were given a printed receipt at the point of transaction inside a Zara store between Dec. 17, 2014 and Apr. 27, 2015 that contained the first six digits of their credit card number.
The deadline to file a claim for the Zara class action settlement passed on Jan. 22, 2016.
