A settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit alleging WEN hair products caused some users to suffer hair loss, hair damage or scalp irritation.

If you purchased and/or used WEN hair care products, you may be entitled to compensation from the class action settlement.

Hundreds of plaintiffs have filed class action lawsuits against the manufacturers of WEN after they allegedly suffered hair loss and/or scalp injuries after using the hair care products.

One of the first WEN class action lawsuits was filed by plaintiff Amy Friedman of Florida. She says that she purchased a WEN Cleansing Conditioner product and began losing significant amounts of hair within two weeks of using the product.

Friedman says she relied on claims suggesting that “WEN is gentle enough to use every day” and that “WEN isn’t like an ordinary shampoo so you want to use more of it, not less.”

According to the WEN class action lawsuit, the defendants knew that the products suffered from a serious design defect but failed to warn consumers that WEN hair care products could cause significant hair loss.

In July 2016, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration launched an investigation into the WEN hair care products after it received a number of reports from consumers about the products.

In December 2015, the parties began mediation in order to resolve the WEN class action lawsuits.

Defendants Guthy-Renker LLC and WEN by Chaz Dean Inc. deny the allegations but have agreed to a class action settlement in order to avoid the cost and risk of trial. They have agreed to pay more than $26 million to settle the WEN hair care class action lawsuit.

The WEN class action settlement was preliminarily approved on Oct. 28, 2016.

If you would like to opt out of or object to the WEN class action settlement, you must do so no later than Feb. 10, 2017.

    1. Molly M says:

Sherri Cox, you might want to consider finding a lawyer to represent you if you have proof of the damage, and still have some of the bottles I work for a law firm and can definitely help answer questions if you want. – Molly

  3. Barbara Haffer says:

I used wen conditioner for a short while and lost a great amount of hair. I didn’t get documentation because it was too late. My hair dresser noticed my hair loss as did family members. I have to use fillers to cover up my hair loss, very stressful.

  4. Sandra Weckesser says:

Stripping product was never told this ! My hair is ruined!! Thank you Wen and your makers of such a false advertisement!!

  5. Sandra Weckesser says:

After using Wen my hair has thinned was losing it daily ! I have now stopped but not seeing much regrowth! Very upset with price and ads !!

  6. Dolly says:

I used Wen products for several years. I ordered many of the products when either Guthy Renker , HSN. or QVC would advertise their specials. They seemed to work well for some time then I noticed my hair became very dry and brittle even after using Wens special cremes and serums. I have two hair brushes full of my hair. Thought hair loss was just part of the aging process. After I discomintued using Wen after a while I noticed a huge difference in my hair texture and they became somewhat thicker too. Probably after maybe six to nine months. I have proof of purchase and pictures of my hair condition. I did not consult with a doctor or professional as I did not notice any scalp irritation. Just a great deal of hair loss and how dry my hair became after extensive use..

  7. Lee says:

This product did not work as advertised. I seemed easy to use and worked ok then suddenly it left a film on my scalp like a build up that would not come off. The directions said you used too little or to much and I adjusted my use, the film was worse and my hair texture changed and became brittle and is now falling out and I have bald spots.

  8. candyce wills says:

    1. Top Class Actions says:

You should review the FAQs on the settlement website. The claim deadline is 4/28/17. You can also contact class counsel with any questions about the case. Counsel is listed in the article and can be Googled for contact information.

    2. Angie says:

Amy Friedman is not the attorney, she is a class action member. It is too late to opt out of the class action and find your own attorney. You have to file for the class action and submit the documentation yourself.

  10. Bet says:

My hair was soft, silky and long. After using went it remains soft but it has thinned unbelievably to the point I can no longer wear my hair out.
