Trott Law PC has agreed to pay $7.5 million to end a class action lawsuit over foreclosure letters that allegedly violated the Fair Debt Collection Act and Michigan state laws.

The Trott foreclosure letter class action settlement, if approved by the court, will end allegations that the law firm sent misleading letters to consumers about their homes.

The class action alleged that the letters implied that an attorney had reviewed the mortgage holder’s accounts when no review had taken place. Additionally, the plaintiffs alleged that Trott Law used a misleading term, “Corporate Advances,” and indicated the mortgage could be reinstated.

Under the terms of the Trott foreclsoure letter class action settlement, those who received letters will receive a portion of the $7.5 million the firm has agreed to pay to end the litigation. Further, Trott Law has agreed to modify its foreclosure letters to remove and clarify allegedly misleading or illegal statements.

Class Members will be notified and provided a unique identification number in order to claim their portion, according to the motion for approval of the Trott foreclosure letter class action settlement.

  2. Laurel Seale says:

I lost my home after redeeming it once. Trott Law, P.C. is one of the worst offenders and a discredit to respectable lawyers and law firms. Now I know why Mr. Trott decided to forego running for office again in Michigan.

    What a Joke!

  3. Sisco says:

  6. Kristine Williams says:

Got mine today and it was only 80.00 dollars!! What bullshit!!! My husband and I had payed over 15years towards our home and were told we couldn’t make payments to catch up on our mortgage, we payed 290,000 for our home, we put 60,000 down and when the housing crisis hit, I think it hit everyone hard and then to be told you can’t make payments to catch up!! I think we were like 8,000 behind which was only 4 months behind!! We were devastated, most of our payments go to interest, I mean look we paid more than 250,000 in those years plus the 60,000 we put down makes that 315,000 dollars now double that due to such ridiculous interest rates!!! And the banks didn’t have to pay any of it back, if they had we would of been in a much worse depression than the one in the 1930’s. AND FOR ALL OF THAT WE GET A LOUSY 80.00 DOLLARS!!! WONDER WHY MY HUSBAND DIDN’T GET HIS 80.00 DOLLARS???WE WERE BOTH ON THE MORTGAGE!!!GO FIGURE THE ATTORNEYS WALK AWAY WITH MILLIONS AND WE GET 80 BUCKS!!! AND EVERYBODY WONDERS WHY ARE WE GETTING SCREWED??? UGGGGGGGGG I’M SO SICK OF ALWAYS GETTING SCREWED!!!!

  7. Watson says:
