Details: Second Chance Body Armor, Inc. has reached a class action lawsuit settlement that could pay consumers up to $750 for each bulletproof vest they purchased from the company that contained the fiber Zylon.

The Second Chance bulletproof vest settlement will resolve a class action lawsuit claiming the vests failed to meet performance standards for which they were guaranteed and that the vests were unfit for their intended purpose.

Second Chance filed for bankruptcy protection in 2004 and its assets have been liquidated, so there is only a certain amount of money left to pay people and businesses that are owed money. Under the proposed class action lawsuit settlement, you may be able to receive up to $750 per vest as long as the Judge approves the settlement.

You’re considered a Class Member of the Second Chance class action settlement if you live in the United States and purchased or used a bulletproof vest manufactured by Second Chance Body Armor which contained Zylon. You can find a list of the Zylon vest model numbers covered by the class action lawsuit settlement at www.SCBAClass.com.

To receive any money from the Second Chance Zylon vest settlement, you must submit a claim form either online at www.SCBAClass.com or by U.S. mail postmarked by June 25, 2012.

Claim forms and more information on your rights in the Second Chance Zylon Bulletproof Vest Class Action Settlement can be found at www.SCBAClass.com.

The Trustee made his final distribution to the Class in January, 2014. This distribution, when combined with prior distributions made by the Trustee, amounted to approximately 11.5% of the Class’ allowed claim. After subtracting fees and expenses allowed by the Bankruptcy Court, we have now calculated each class member’s pro rata share of the Class Claim Fund. This pro rata share amounts to approximately 6.74%. Pursuant to Paragraph 10 of the Court’s Order Granting Motion for Approval of Class Claim Review and Distribution Procedures, Distribution of Proceeds, Authorization to Pay Professionals, and Other Relief (“Order”), dated August 22, 2013, regarding distribution procedures, we have posted the Class Claim Distribution at the website, http://www.scbaclass.com.

Payments were mailed to eligible class members on Thursday, April 24, 2014. Please allow 2 weeks for delivery.

If you have questions regarding your payment, please email the Class Administrator at info@scbaclass.com.

When are they going to start mailing out the checks?

  6. LB says:

(mistake) April 4th is the deadline….

  7. LB says:

Read on the settlement website..Now people are filing objections to the court because payments will be reduced…Deadline to file to the court is March 4, 2014.

  8. BabyBrwneyez says:

The Trustee filed his final report regarding the bankruptcy estate, and it is expected that the Trustee will make a final distribution to creditors, including the Class in late January 2014. Because of the costs associated with making distributions to the Class, the Class Claim Fund will not be distributed until after the Trustee makes his final distribution. We anticipate the distribution of the Class Claim Fund to be in March or April, 2014.

  9. BabyBrwneyez says:

I read on their site that checks will not be issued until sometime this month. Here is the site for more infomation: https://scbaclass.com/Home.aspx.
