Porsche Cars North America Inc. has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit alleging that some 2003 to 2006 model year Porsche Cayenne vehicles with V8 engines were equipped with plastic coolant pipes that can prematurely degrade or fracture.
Who’s Eligible
Class Members of the plastic cooling pipe defect settlement include current and prior owners or lessees of a model year 2003-2006 Porsche Cayenne vehicle with a V8 engine in the United States. New and Porsche approved certified pre-owned (ACPO) vehicles from an authorized Porsche dealership are included as Class Vehicles.
Potential Award
If your Class Vehicle had a coolant pipe repair before Dec. 12, 2013, for which you incurred out-of-pocket expenses for parts and labor costs, you may be eligible to receive partial or complete reimbursement for that repair if you make a valid, timely and approved claim.
If as of Dec. 12, 2013, your Class Vehicle has not had a coolant pipe repair to install genuine Porsche aluminum coolant pipes, you may be eligible to receive a partial or complete payment for replacement of your Class Vehicle’s coolant pipes with genuine Porsche aluminum coolant pipes if you make a valid, timely and approved claim.
If as of Dec. 12, 2013, your Class Vehicle is still equipped with Porsche plastic coolant pipes and, within one year from Dec. 12, 2013, experiences coolant pipe damage, you may be eligible to receive a partial or complete payment for replacement of your Class Vehicle’s Porsche plastic coolant pipes with genuine Porsche aluminum coolant pipes if you promptly contact Porsche Cars North America at 1-800-566-9181 to learn how to obtain an inspection of the vehicle and submit a valid, timely and approved claim.
Proof of Purchase
Class Members must submit (1) a clear and legible copy of the repair orders and/or other service documents that identify the make, model and year of the vehicle, the vehicle identification number (VIN), the odometer reading at the time of the repair, and that sufficiently establish that a coolant pipe repair occurred; (2) proof of ownership or lease of the Class Vehicle at the time of the repair; (3) for ACPO claimants only, proof of purchase of a Class Vehicle with an ACPO limited warranty; and (4) receipts, invoices, and other records of expenses paid out-of-pocket for the coolant pipe repair and repair of collateral damage, if any.
If the documents identified above are unavailable, the Class Member must submit a declaration providing the required information and explaining the circumstances preventing the Class Member from submitting the documentation with their Claim Form. Claims that are not accompanied by supporting documents will be rejected if they cannot be verified.

In re: Porsche Cars North America Inc. Plastic Coolant Tubes Products Liability Litigation, Case No. 2:11-md-02233, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio
Case Summary
The Porsche Cayenne class action lawsuit alleges that Porsche sold vehicles with defective plastic cooling pipes, which have or will prematurely degrade and fracture. The plaintiffs also claim that the plastic cooling pipe defect can cause damage to other components of the vehicles’ engines. Further, the plaintiffs allege that Porsche was aware of this possibility but failed to disclose it to consumers. Porsche denies the allegations but agreed to the class action settlement, which received final approval on March 19, 2014.

This is a statement i received when i inquired on 2/2015. On April 18, 2014, a single objector filed a Notice of Appeal appealing the District Court’s order granting final approval of the Settlement Agreement and overruling the objections. As provided in Question 14 of the Class Notice, it is uncertain when the appeal will be resolved. Resolving appeals takes time, perhaps more than a year. Please be patient and consult this website for further status updates including the status of settlement benefits.
At this time, we do not know how soon the Court will authorize us to begin issuing payments to eligible Class Members. We will continue to share the most recent information about the case on the Settlement website (www.coolantpipesettlement.com). Please also feel free to contact us by email for updates.
A copy of the Final Approval Order can be found on the Settlement website under the “Court Documents” tab.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Does anyone know where to go for information on the status of this? The Administrator number is disconnected….
Does anybody know when they will start cutting checks?
Would anyone know if this is valid for Canadian Porsche owners as well? It’s Porsche North America after all! Or if anyone knows about the similar claim in Canada.
Will there be any relief available for those whose cars fall outside of the class? My 2008 had cracked its plastic pipes; I had them replaced last year within the specified window.
Porsche did not fully remedy this problem until (I believe) the 2010 model year. There should be relief available for years up to this. Please advise how this can be accomplished.
The main coolant pipes were fixed for models 2008+. I have a 2008 built in April of 2008 and the pipes are made of a higher heat tolerant plastic and can endure the extreme heat of the engine, however there are other smaller tubes that may be impacted, but that is another issue. Are you saying your second generation coolant pipes failed similarly to the first generation models? what year was your vehicle built? If in 2007 then that may be the problem but I am assuming. You should be able to submit a claim if this is the case.
I purchased a 06 Porsche Cayenne S 2 1/2 months ago from a BMW dealership. My coolant pipes cracked two days ago. What steps do I need to take to have my vehicle repaired? Do I have to take it to a certified Porsche dealership? Also, I have the “Power” Easy Care third party extended coverage and with it being a open recall on the pipes will I be covered 100 percent?
Do I needs any proof to claims this???????
Yes you do. There is required documentation to prove your repairs and you need to show proof of mileage when the repairs were made and, how much you paid. Contact the number above to get the needed paperwork if you have not submitted your claim.
