A $3 million settlement will be distributed to consumers who bought a Nabi tablet with a defective charging system.

This amount is set aside for the Class as part of a larger bankruptcy case involving the manufacturer of the children’s tablets – Fuhu.

Class Members include those who purchased Nabi tablets, including the Nabi 2, Nabi 2S, Nabi XD, Nabi Jr., Nabi Jr. S, or Nabi DreamTab.

The Nabi class action lawsuit alleged that Fuhu Inc. misled consumers into buying their products despite having a defective charging system. Nabi tablets are marketed specifically for children.

According to the Nabi tablet class action, Fuhu marketed the Nabi tablets as rechargeable. However, the alleged defect in the charging station made charging the units impossible.

There was a twist in the class action lawsuit when Fuhu declared bankruptcy. The class action plaintiffs had to pursue compensation in bankruptcy court.

According to the class action plaintiffs, the Nabi tablet settlement agreement is a better option than pursuing their allegations in bankruptcy court.

Under the terms of settlement, Class Members can make a claim for each Nabi tablet they purchased. Class Members whose tablet suffered from the alleged charging defect will be entitled to a larger claim than those whose tablets did not have the defect.

The exact claim for each defective Nabi tablet is estimated to be $30 and $10 for each non-defective tablet.

To make a claim in the Nabi tablet class action settlement, Class Members must provide the control number provided by the Settlement Administrator, or demonstrate that they contacted Fuhu about the defect, the serial number, and confirmation of the registration of the tablet sent by Fuhu through email or an itemized receipt showing the model purchased.

The deadline to object to or opt out of the settlement agreement is Aug. 20, 2019.

Who’s Eligible

Class Members include “All persons who purchased, in the United States, a Nabi 2, Nabi 2S, Nabi XD, Nabi Jr. (including Nabi Jr. S) or Nabi DreamTab tablet, except persons who purchased for resale or returned such tablet for a full refund or non-defective replacement.”

Potential Award

$10 or $30 per tablet.

Class Members with a non-defective tablet are expected to receive $10, while those with a defective tablet should receive $30. The actual payout could be more or less depending on the number of valid claims filed.

Proof of Purchase

Control number or proof of defect, serial number, and email confirmation from Fuhu showing online registration of the tablet or an itemized receipt showing the model.

      Mattel purchased the assets of Fuhu in early 2016 through the bankruptcy court. Did you purchase the BigTab after this?

    At least this covers the cost of the worthless charging cables I was forced into buying when the tablets (I was dumb enough to buy 2 of them) stopped charging. I called Nabi when the tablets stopped charging and was told to purchase new charging cables at $30 each. Result… They make more money, and I still had 2 non-working tablets.

    I purchased a 24” Nabi BigTab and was very disappointed to see that it is not included in this lawsuit. I spent $300 on it only to have it not charge. I had to send it back to the company 3 times and now it’s out of warranty so I have a $300 paper weight. My daughter has Down Syndrome so it would have been perfect for her if it worked properly.

    I brought 4 of these tablets from Toys R Us in Greensboro NC. It did not hold charge and the screen kept blacken out. The only reason why I brought 4 is because I have twins. I purchase the first 2 for Christmas they only worked for about year. I then purchase new chargers for both of them. I got them on Amazon they didn’t work so I called the company and they told me that I had to purchase the ordinary charger from them I did that. The tablets kept messing up so I told the twins that I will get them a brand new ones for their birthday so I did same thing happen would not hold charge and my daughter’s tablet kept going out so I give up

    I have a Nabi BigTab that was wonderful except it wouldn’t charge right, wouldn’t hold a charge, chargers stopped working…nightmare! Stopped using it after about a month and still have it in a closet. Very disappointed because the BigTab isn’t listed and it should be!

    I always thought it was my son that was messing up his tablets. He has five in all. Two Nabi juniors, two Dream Tabs and one 20in Big Tab. They all were defective. I don’t know how many times I called technical support to get help. I did whatever I could to get those tablets to work because my son absolutely adored his tablets and so did I. They were wonderful products besides all of the technical difficulties we experienced. My son has autism and the tablets were perfect for him.
