Kashi

Kashi has agreed to pay close to $4 million to settle a false advertising class action lawsuit that claimed certain food products labeled as “all natural,” “100% natural,” or “nothing artificial” actually contained genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

The proposed Kashi class action settlement would resolve allegations that the food manufacturer mislabeled items in order to persuade customers into buying their products. Approval of the Kashi false advertising class action lawsuit settlement will end a three-year litigation process brought on by a group of consumers who claim they were misled by Kashi’s labeling practice.

Over the years, Kashi attempted to have the false advertising class action lawsuit dismissed three different times but the litigation survived and has resulted in a Kashi GMO mislabeling class action settlement.

Kashi continues to stand by its marketing and denies that the company did anything wrong. However, in addition to providing monetary compensation to Class Members, the company has also agreed to change its labeling practices by removing the “all natural” claims from Kashi products containing the GMO ingredients challenged in the Kashi class action lawsuit.
