Greyhound Lines has agreed to settle a lawsuit brought by the U.S. Department of Justice to resolve allegations that the transportation company violated the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
The DOJ claims that Greyhound violated the ADA by not providing accessible transportation and transportation-related services to individuals with disabilities. The federal agency states that by not providing “full and equal” enjoyment of its transportation services, Greyhound discriminates against a group of citizens.
The alleged violations brought on by the Justice Department include “failing to maintain accessibility features on its bus fleet such as lifts and securement devices; failing to provide passengers with disabilities assistance boarding and exiting buses at rest stops; and failing to allow customers traveling in wheelchairs to complete their reservations online.”
Greyhound Lines denied the allegations but agreed to pay an uncapped amount of financial compensation to disabled passengers as well as use its resources to improve transportation services for passengers with disabilities.
According to the terms of the settlement, whenever Greyhound makes a rest stop “all passengers with disabilities, including individuals using wheelchairs, will be permitted to leave and return to the bus on the same basis as other passengers.”
In addition, by April 30, 2016, and every year after, Greyhound will require all of its employees attend in-person training on the nondiscrimination mandate of the ADA.
Disabled passengers who believe they were discriminated against have until Nov. 10, 2016 to file a Claim to benefit from this Greyhound settlement.

Things are too quiet here. Do anyone here know any pertinent information regarding distribution.
Any new information on checks?
What is ment by a lengthy revue process?
Thank You so much. T.C.A. for the update.
Any updates yet. Thanks.
The claim form deadline was just on 11/10/16. It can often take settlement administrators several months for claim processing. The consent decree does not give a timeline for payout. It’s more than likely, due to the nature of the complaint, there is a lengthy claim review process. Please keep checking Top Class Actions for updates. We will let our viewers know as soon as we learn checks are in the mail!
I Printed my claim form out, and sending it in. Hope to get a check soon.
