Georgia Cash America settlement

Georgia Cash America Inc. has agreed to a $36 million class action lawsuit settlement over consumer allegations that the company made improper Payday Loans and charged interest and fees on these loans at amounts higher than what the law allows.

Cash America does not admit any wrongdoing in agreeing to the class action settlement, but will provide to Class Members three times the actual damages they incurred as part of the settlement agreement. Actual damages include all the interest and fees that were repaid on the Payday Loan(s), subject to a reduction if the total number of valid claims filed exceeds the Maximum Settlement Fund amount.

The class action settlement also provides $25,000 each to Class Members James Greene and Mennie Johnson for their role and services as class representatives.

The only way to receive money from the Cash America class action settlement is to submit a valid Claim Form postmarked no later than Jan. 14, 2014. Detailed claim filing instructions are below.

The Final Fairness Hearing will be held on Jan. 16, 2014, where it will be decided whether to approve the settlement. In the event of approval, Class Members should receive settlement relief within approximately 60 days.

Call the number and listen to the recording! The wonderful Garden City Group is handling this! They started before this was settled stating that checks would be mailed out approximately 4 weeks after it was settled. OOPS! Now that it is settled, they state “do to what the courts decided” they cannot mail out any checks before April 1st!!! Now that has gone from April 1st to “by April 30th”. Huh??? Heed my warning….. I was a member with White vs. Experian nearly 5 years ago thru this same Garden City Group, and checked in on this suit time and time again and in the end greedy lawyers and probably the Garden City Group caused us class action members to never receive a dime (would have received a check for 750.00). Look out for this to happen again! Call the number above for Garden City Group and bug the crap out of them!!!!

Cash America employees in Ohio improperly stamped management’s signature on loan collection affidavits for almost five years without anyone prior review or approval. Don’t these people have morals, how could you go to work everyday knowing you are doing something wrong, the sad thing is this is how many of these companies are run. Caring is not their strong suit. http://www.castlelaw.net/library/cash-america-to-pay-19-million-in-fines-for-robo-sigining-documents.cfm
