Owners and lessees of 2014 and 2015 Jeep Cherokee, 2015 Jeep Renegade, 2015 Chrysler 200, or 2015 ProMaster City vehicles may qualify for a class action settlement over allegations that Fiat Chrysler supplied defective automatic transmissions.
Lead plaintiffs filed a class action lawsuit against Fiat Chrysler after they and other consumers allegedly experienced problems with vehicles containing a nine-speed ZF 9HP automatic transmission.
According to the Fiat Chrysler class action lawsuit, a defect caused loud noises and made vehicles difficult to shift into gear.
These problems allegedly occurred despite Fiat Chrysler’s marketing of vehicles with the affected transmission as incorporating the benefits of both manual and automatic transmissions.
The Fiat Chrysler transmission class action lawsuit states that the defect presents a safety hazard because with delayed acceleration and sudden loss of power, the driver doesn’t have full control of the vehicle.
The FCA class action lawsuit points to numerous complaints about Class Vehicles made with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Repeatedly, consumers report that their FCA transmission completely shut down on highways and could have caused a serious accident.
Under the terms of the Fiat Chrysler transmission defect class action settlement, Class Members who made at least three transmission-related complaints to an FCA US-authorized dealer could receive up to $2,000 cash or a trade-in value of up to $4,000.
Fiat Chrysler has also agreed to extend warranties on vehicles containing the 9 Speed ZF 9HP automatic transmission of the Class Vehicles to 6 years or 100,000 miles.
Class Members have until May 15, 2019 to file a claim in the class action settlement. Class Members who wish to object to or opt out of the class action settlement must notify the court by Jan. 2, 2019.
The final hearing will be held on Feb. 13, 2019.
Who’s Eligible
Class Members include those “who purchased or leased new, in the United States, for family, household, or personal use, and still own, one of the following vehicles equipped with a 9 Speed ZF 9HP Automatic Transmission: model-years 2014 and 2015 Jeep Cherokee; model-year 2015 Jeep Renegade; model-year 2015 Chrysler 200; and model-year 2015 ProMaster City.”
To claim cash or trade-in value benefits, Class Members must have made at least three transmission-related complaints to an FCA US-authorized dealer before the date their class notice was made.
Potential Award
Up to $2,000 cash or $4,000 voucher.

Add 2013 Jeep Liberty’s too has several transmission problems and have proof for them all!
I’ve owned 3 Jeeps (2009 patriot, a 2011 wrangler, and a 2014 wrangler) and all were bought brand new. By 40k miles they all lost their ability to accelerate. The patriot was the WORST though, i almost got in a serious accident on 495 in northern va rush hour when my stupid car couldnt accelerated even though I had my foot slammed on the gas pedal, talk about life flashing before your eyes, that was beyond scary. I will never, EVER buy a Jeep/Chrystler-Fiat again. It is an expensive pile of shit. My Mercedes is much more reliable, faster, and wayyyyyyy prettier!
I own a 2011 Jeep Wrangler (6 speed, manual transmission) which only has ~89k miles and was told I need a new transmission and clutch.
Forgot to mention the mechanic told me it was a DESIGN FLAW and Chrysler is only selling new engines. Which will caps me $5k.
There should be a lawsuit for posting a picture of a Silver Jeep Wrangler in if it dies not concern Jeep Wrangler owners
So if you were told by the dealer that nothing is wrong and it’s the way the 9 speed transmission is supposed to feel so therefore you didnt go 3 times before the deadline we just have to live with a shitty car?
I have a 2015 jeep renegade, I initially took my car in within a week of purchasing my brand new vehicle and was told numerous of times that there was absolutely nothing wrong with my suv! I’m no mechanic but I could most definitely tell the difference.
I’ve sent in my paperwork to the lawyers and haven’t heard nothing about this lawsuit i have a lot of problems with my 2014 jeep Cherokee with the 9 speed junk transmission personally i think we all either deserve a new car or more that $2000 because when it comes time to fix it they will charge us $5000 to $6000 to fix it
Since I purchased my brand new vehicle there has always been a delay in the shifts at low or high speeds… I took it in twice and they told me nothing was wrong with it… And now my warranty is expired and can’t afford to take it in…
Add me please
I have a 2015 jeep Cherokee on going issues with transmission they replace within 1st year. Still issues but they dont want to do anything
