Family Dollar has agreed to pay $1.5 million to settle a class action lawsuit that accused the discount retailer of violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act by texting customers without prior express written consent.
Lead plaintiff Reginald Moore of Missouri filed the Family Dollar class action lawsuit after allegedly receiving numerous text spam messages on his cell phone regarding sale items.
Under the terms of the class action settlement, Class Members will receive a portion of the $1.5 million. The estimated settlement pay-out is valued at $45 in cash as well as a Family Dollar $30 gift card for each Class Member.
Individuals who want to object or opt-out of the Family Dollar settlement must do so by May 18, 2016.
Who’s Eligible
Family Dollar settlement Class Members include all U.S. residents who were sent text spam from the company as part of a subscription-based program between Oct. 16, 2013 and Mar. 7, 2016.
Potential Award
$75 – $500
Class Members are estimated to receive a cash pay-out of $45 as well as a Family Dollar gift card valued at $30. Depending on the number of valid Claim Forms, Class Members may receive up to $300 in cash as well as a Family Dollar gift card of $200.

N/A
Class Members do not need to provide proof of purchase but they must submit a Claim Form no later than June 3, 2016 to receive benefits from this TCPA settlement.

That is not true April all you had to do was file the claim online nothing in Illinois yet still waiting.

You should contact the Settlement Administrator with any specific questions about your claim. We had several viewers report that they were told that if you did not receive a postcard, you would not be receiving a settlement check.
I received a Gift Card from Family Dollar. The letter said is was for 29.95. No check. When I got to Family Dollar they said is was for 19.95.
