Details: The Slide Disco text settlement resolves a 2011 class action lawsuit, titled Pimental v. Google Inc., et al., that alleges the defendants violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) by sending unsolicited text messages to consumers from the Disco group text messaging service created by Slide.

Several consumers sued Google Slide over the pesky texts, including Florida resident Bret Lusskin, Jr., who claimed he received more than 105 text messages in a single day through Disco.com — a group-texting platform developed by Slide that allows people to send texts to 99 people at once. When one recipient replies, the response is sent to everyone in the group.

The defendants deny any wrongdoing but have agreed to a $6 million class action lawsuit settlement to resolve the litigation.

Class Members of the Disco text class action settlement include all persons who received the Disco Mobile App Text or other text messages sent by or through the Disco Messaging Service informing them about the Disco Message Service.

These text messages contained language similar to the following:

Disco is a group texting service. Standard SMS rates may apply or chat for FREE w/ our app – http://disco.com/d More info? Text *help To quit? Text *leave.

Start group texting with Disco! For easier group management, get our FREE app at http://disco.com/d! More info? Text *help

Class Members will receive a pro rata share of the $6 million Disco text class action lawsuit settlement if they submit a Claim Form by the deadline of August 10, 2013.

The amount of money you can receive cannot be determined at this time, but will not exceed $500. TCPA class action settlements typically pay out $100 or more, however.

  2. Minor claims says:

Looking through the comments, someone’s 17 yr old received a check. How??? Don’t you have to be 18? If not then I want checks for my kids.

  3. tracy says:

I put in each number different and I think they should send them because kids cant clame and the other line is my daughters I mailed them a letter too and emailed the attorneys not no answer hope I hear soon if you do please let me know

  4. Tina says:

My husband and I each got one for 422.00

  5. crazy system says:

There is only one Claim per phone number.

Hey, Tracy and everyone. I just found this in their FAQ’s on their website. I guess you and I and possibly many others got cheated out of that second check? How would we correct this?

  6. crazy system says:

Tracy, apparently you should have put someone else’s name on the second number. I wish I had! Like the woman that got 4 checks in her mailbox- one for her, her husband, her daughter, and her brother I believe. Crazy system. I don’t think it’s “fair” either- if more than one number was involved for an individual, then each number should receive a check. But we aren’t the ones to decide that unfortunately. At least we got one check.

  7. tracy says:

Wish you could call them the number is just info no where to leave a message and no email I sent a letter nothibg back yet and emailing the laywer got me no where all I want to know is if im getting one per line or per person I got 2 lines and only one check
