Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies Inc. has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit alleging it deceptively described its Aveeno Active Naturals products as “natural,” even though they include synthetic ingredients.

If you purchased certain Aveeno Active Naturals and/or Aveeno Baby products from May 7, 2007 and June 13, 2017, you may be entitled to compensation from the Aveeno class action settlement.

The Aveeno Active Naturals class action lawsuit was originally filed by plaintiff Michael Goldemberg in May 2013. He accused J&J of marketing and selling its personal care products with the Aveeno Active Naturals label to get a leg up on competitors and to command a premium price from consumers who are willing to pay extra for products that do not include harsh, synthetic ingredients.

On Oct. 4, 2016, a New York federal judge granted certification to a Class of consumers who purchased certain Aveeno Active Naturals and Aveeno Baby products.

Johnson & Johnson denies the allegations but agreed to settle the Aveeno Active Naturals class action lawsuit to avoid the burden and expense of ongoing litigation. An amended order granting preliminary approval to the Aveeno class action settlement was filed on June 13, 2017.

The products covered by the J&J class action settlement include Aveeno Active Naturals and Aveeno Baby lotion, body wash, sunblock, cleanser, shampoo, conditioner and other personal care products. A full list of the 90 covered products is available here.

Class Members who would like to opt out of or object to the Aveeno Naturals settlement must do so no later than Sept. 27, 2017.

Class Members of the Aveeno settlement include anyone who purchased at least one of the Covered Products in the United States from May 7, 2007 through June 13, 2017.

  9. Toni Blanchard says:

I used more than what I put a claim in for. I took care of my sister for more than three years because she was bedridden and couldn’t take care of herself. I used many of these products to bathe her or freshen her up with the lotions. I did not use these products on myself and my sister passed away in July. But I paid for all these products with my money.

I believe this ENTIRE SITE is for attorneys to claim victims, and use said victims as numbers to stake “their” claim as representation benefactors..when in fact..without the victim..the attorneys have mere case NUMBERS instead of case claims!!! WE THE PEOPLE…spent our paychecks on products…and WE THE PEOPLE … will give roughly 6 to 8 attorneys a multi million dollar paycheck on BEHALF of “THE PEOPLE.” FYI…THE PEOPLE…will divide $12 between the lot, revieving 12 cents PER PRODUCT!! Kudos to the brilliant minds who allowed “class action claims” to insult those who bought, used, and got taken by products that lied, and led group defenders to add insult at our very own misery!! Well played!!

    1. K. D. says:

The attorneys work for years on these cases and only get paid if the case is settled or won. They put up an enormous amount of time and money up front. They risk losing a lot of money. I’m glad they do what they do.

      1. Lisa Sharp says:

yep u hit it right on dime sometimes you have to fill out a second form and they our attorneys are supposed to let us know half time they do not but recive money because after you get confirmation number you in class action you signed up for.Like the hydroxy cut we have to fill out second form if no proof of purchase i did get email to do that first time. You have to contact them wait on answer i have never recived a claim on the few i have done been using site 2 years they have other sites look for them.

        1. Bonnie says:

I have recieved several refunds on claims I’ve filed with no problem , the only time so far I’ve had an attorney contact me was for the Apple iPhone battery replacement , no ones forcing you to file a claim , I’m grateful for this site , I know I’d never know what’s going on as far as issues with any of the products I’ve purchased , I purchased a purse at an outlet and was overcharged , I’d have no way of knowing that , it’s not like I’d walk in that particular store and there’d be a sign saying “ if you purchased a purse here …” Thank You Class Actions , someone’s doing all the work to keep us informed , it’s certainly not me
