Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies Inc. has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit alleging it deceptively described its Aveeno Active Naturals products as “natural,” even though they include synthetic ingredients.

If you purchased certain Aveeno Active Naturals and/or Aveeno Baby products from May 7, 2007 and June 13, 2017, you may be entitled to compensation from the Aveeno class action settlement.

The Aveeno Active Naturals class action lawsuit was originally filed by plaintiff Michael Goldemberg in May 2013. He accused J&J of marketing and selling its personal care products with the Aveeno Active Naturals label to get a leg up on competitors and to command a premium price from consumers who are willing to pay extra for products that do not include harsh, synthetic ingredients.

On Oct. 4, 2016, a New York federal judge granted certification to a Class of consumers who purchased certain Aveeno Active Naturals and Aveeno Baby products.

Johnson & Johnson denies the allegations but agreed to settle the Aveeno Active Naturals class action lawsuit to avoid the burden and expense of ongoing litigation. An amended order granting preliminary approval to the Aveeno class action settlement was filed on June 13, 2017.

The products covered by the J&J class action settlement include Aveeno Active Naturals and Aveeno Baby lotion, body wash, sunblock, cleanser, shampoo, conditioner and other personal care products. A full list of the 90 covered products is available here.

Class Members who would like to opt out of or object to the Aveeno Naturals settlement must do so no later than Sept. 27, 2017.

David, you grow up! Check this out…Your own words…This covers 10 years…right? Well that’s 10 years of being deceived by her another company who has NO issues taking people’s money. Yet you who clearly works for them or something that has to do with this, don’t seem to understand that ppl are tired of being deceived and paying for products that are not what they claim they are. You have the guts to tell ppl to grow up bc they feel a certain way? That’s crazy! The only thing Aveeno is interested in is money and the fact that you have a problem with the ppl who even give Aveeno money by buying products is beyond me. So YEAH…ppl just like aveeno….ALSO want their money ok. ANd to top it off its hard to deal with a company who lies, and then has a lawsuit and continues to bs consumers. It’s not ok. Don’t tell us to not complain when Aveeno as lawyers etc are taking in millions from this and products and they should pay for being deceitful. It’s OuR money anyway. Did I consider that? How about this…..ppl will file claims bc they can and on top of it they will complain of they want about a Dr appt lawsuit and company! OK….

    1. Rachel says:

They will complain about the claims and the company . Maybe just !maybe they didn’t send out as much money to even ppl with receipts bc they kept money for themselvea. I mean they stalled for the longest. Ppl have emails upon emails from the settlement ppl who handles this case who continued to lie about when checks would be Sent out. I can’t believe this guy David says this deal when even the lawyers want money lol. We r the ones putting the money n their pockets anyway….ALSO putting money n Aveeno pockets, their employees etc. Duh. We deserve to be paid back and not to be continuously deceived . Why wouldn’t ppl file claims….? So that Aveeno or Amsterdam keep more of the settlement money? They already tried like heck to deny claims just to do it just so they could keep money for themselves….what the neck lol David is clearly working for them lol
