UPDATE 2:
- Consumers who filed a claim in the Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) CPUs class action lawsuit have been receiving second payments of up to $8.77 from the settlement fund in early June 2021.
- Congratulations to everyone who filed a claim and got PAID!
UPDATE:
- On April 21, 2020, approved claimants started receiving Advanced Micro Devices settlement checks in the mail for as much as $152.10.
A class action settlement of $12.1 million will resolve claims that Advanced Micro Devices Inc. misrepresents the number of “cores” in its AMD FX CPUs.
An estimated 1 million consumers are eligible for this Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) CPU class action settlement. Eligible consumers include individuals who, while living in California or after visiting the AMD website, purchased one or more of the following AMD CPUs: FX-8120, FX-8150, FX-8320, FX-8350, FX-8370, FX-9370, or FX-9590.
The AMD CPU class action was filed in November 2015, over claims that the computer processor company misrepresented their “Bulldozer” lines of CPUs. The company allegedly marketed these CPUs as having “8 cores” but the AMD CPU class action alleged that the products only contained four cores.
Plaintiff Tony Dickey allegedly purchased two of AMD’s Bulldozer CPUs in March 2015 after seeing advertisements that the products contained “8 cores.” In his AMD CPU class action, Dickey argues that he would not have made his purchases if he knew the representations were false or, if he did purchase the CPUs, he would have paid less for them.
Advanced Micro Devices Inc. has not admitted any wrongdoing but has agreed to pay $12.1 million to resolve the AMD CPU class action claims against them. The settlement fund will cover administration fees, court costs, attorneys’ fees, Class representative awards, and payments to Class Members.
The settlement will provide up to $300 per CPU purchased. Exact compensation per CPU will depend on the number of valid claims filed and the number of CPUs claimed. Each CPU will be associated with a proportional share of the net settlement fund.
Class Members can claim up to five CPU purchases without providing proof of purchase. If they wish to claim any more than five, Class Members must provide proof of purchase in the form of receipts or other documentation.
To benefit from the AMD CPU class action settlement, Class Members need to submit a Claim Form online or through the mail by Jan. 3, 2020. The deadline for exclusion and objection is Dec. 9, 2019. The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for Feb. 20, 2020.

They are sending out emails DENYING payments. This is another claim that the only people getting paid are the LAWYERS, and they know it’s nothing you can do about it. I’m always amazed that many of these claims want proof or receipts from YEARS ago.
Something coming from informed delivery today after being denied for a duplicate claim
121.68 in ohio
August 28th, deposit into my account no problems thus far
I received check no. 113781 for the amount of 121.68 made out on April 17, 2020. I deposited check to my bank account. On May 5th, I received a letter from the bank stating the check was previously cashed elsewhere. I was also charge a $5 fee from my bank for the return. I made a report to the California State Bar.
I have not received a check nor anything, what is really going on?
Top Class Actions: please investigate. The settlement company did not follow their own rules.
They lied and said I sent a ‘duplicate’ claim. I did not and only 1 claim was sent from my address.. When I asked them why they thought my claim was a duplicate, they lied again and said they can do whatever they want, here is their email:
Under the terms of the Settlement Agreement located on the settlement website http://www.amdcpusettlement.com, Section 5.2 of the Class Action Settlement Agreement states, that in our fiduciary capacity we are obligated to employ reasonable procedures to screen claims for abuse and fraud. This is their answer …..As the Court appointed administrator we are authorized to audit and request supporting documentation for any claims filed in this matter. Please email us your documentation and we will review this determination further.
And I claim 5 CPUs Proof of purchase required for Class Members claiming more than five CPUs.
There is INTENTION NOT TO HONOR THAT COMPENSATION and I called FRAUD
I finally rec’d response from claims administrator regarding my inquiry as to why I haven’t rec’d settlement check; my claim appears to be a duplicate of another approved claim. Please send documentation of my purchase. I live in a mobile home park. I live alone so it is impossible for there to be more than one claim from my household. There very well may be others from this community. There are over 300 families here I do not save receipts for that long. The class action clearly states no documentation required for under 5 cpus. I believe it to be a way to disqualify people. I expressed that and requested that review the claim more closely Sorry to babble on but it upset me because I had heard that some look for sny way they can get out of paying. It just isn’t right
Yes, they told me the same exact thing 3 weeks ago via email. I really would love to know how they change the rules AFTER the claim period is closed.
Yes. I agree with you all. Some settlement Administrators are scammers. The money they deny the claimants goes back to the Corporation the lawsuit was against…in this case: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. I believe they make some kind of shady deal with the Administrators and split the money they keep from playing out. Sucks but it happens!
I received my check. Deposited it and a couple of days later it was returned. Bank says it was already deposited somewhere else. ?
They won’t even respond to my emails. I’ll just continue to send complaints to the attorneys and the courts.
You are included if you purchased one or more of the following AMD CPUs either (1) while residing in California or (2) after visiting the AMD.com website (or both):
Same reply to me. Duplicative Claim. Nobody else filed except me and my husband.
The Claim form said whoever bought while in CA, not 1 per household.
