Details: The Dunn Settlement resolves a class action lawsuit against the City of Chicago over whether the Chicago Police Department violated the constitutional rights of certain people who were arrested from March 15, 1999 to May 14, 2010. The Dunn v. City of Chicago class action lawsuit alleges that three classes of individuals who were arrested during this time had their constitutional rights violated due to the manner and/or length of their detentions.The City of Chicago does not admit any fault under the Dunn class action settlement, but has agreed to create a settlement fund of $16.5 million to resolve the class action lawsuit. The Dunn v. Chicago Police class action lawsuit settlement includes three classes of persons:

Class I: Those held in a Chicago Police interrogation or “interview” room for more than 16 hours in a 24-hour period at any time form October 21, 2002 to May 14, 2010; or

 

Class II: Those detained in a Chicago Police Department lock-up or detention facility overnight at any time from October 21, 2002 to May 14, 2010; or

 

Class III: Those arrested by the Chicago Police Department on suspicion of a felony without an arrest warrant and detained in excess of 48 hours without a judicial probable cause hearing, at any time from March 15, 1999 to February 10, 2008.

 

Members of Class I are eligible to receive up to $2,000 from the Dunn class action settlement, members of Class II up to $90, and members of Class II up to $3,000 from the Dunn settlement.

 

In order to receive a payment from the Dunn Chicago settlement, you must submit a signed and notarized claim form postmarked no later than October 25, 2010.     Alot of people did not receive notification about this that were rightfully untitled to it sadly the system is flawed if you know the persons entitled to these lawsuits because you do have names it should automatically be paid if can’t locate should go to unclaimed funds .
    Y’all got the list of all in cook county jail .

    I recived apart of the settment with w2 but forgot to file it on my 2012 return.now the irs will not release my funds unleass i do so. but i mist place the w2.how do i go about getting them again? or what could i do.

    i receved money from the settment.also w2 fomes but mist place them.i forgot two fild them on my tax for 2012 and the irs will not release my funds unless i file the money so i need w2 or information showing them that i got the settment.how do i go about getting those thing from you guys?

    To whom it may concern,
    My name is Nancy Reese and i filled out a claim form for the class action suit between Dunn v. city of Chicago and never heard anything after that. Some people i know have already received they money and i’am still waiting. What should i do to find out what happen to my settlement money. I was able to claim all three of the class action suit .I should of received $5,090.00. It’s been over a year and i sent in the paper work they wanted but never received an answer or some information on what was going on.What should i do? and how do i get my money?
