Wyndham Hotels and Resorts has agreed to pay $7.3 million to resolve allegations that the company recorded the phone conversations of potential guests without their notice or consent.
Plaintiff Joyce Roberts filed the Wyndham class action lawsuit in 2012 over claims that California state laws were violated when resort phone calls were transferred to an Aegis-operated call center who allegedly didn’t inform consumers that the calls were being recorded.
The Wyndham call recording settlement covers the following hotels: Wyndham Rewards, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, Wyndham Grand Hotels and Resorts, Wyndham Garden Hotels, Travelodge, Ramada, Knights Inn, Wingate, Days Inn, Super 8, Baymont, Hawthorn, Microtel or Tryp.
However, only phone calls routed to an Aegis call center are covered under the Wyndham class action settlement.
Those individuals who wish to object or be excluded from the settlement must do so no later than Aug. 18, 2016.
Who’s Eligible
Wyndham hotel call recording settlement Class Members include all California residents who called one of the toll-free numbers connected to Wyndham Hotels and Resorts between May 1, 2011 and Mar. 23, 2012, spoke with a representative and were recorded without notice that the call was being recorded.
Potential Award
$150 (minimum)
The $7.325 million class action settlement fund will be divided equally with all Class Members who submit a valid Claim Form. Each Class Member will receive a minimum of $150 but no more than $5,000 per qualified call.

Y r we getting penalize because some people turn there paper late. It’s going to be something else watch
Now they are saying the checks will be mailed no later than March 2–too many people filed their W-9 forms after the 14-day window. Ah, well. For $1200 or more, I can wait.

Settlement Update: January 27, 2017
Claimants who are scheduled to receive a settlement check that is more than $1,200:
We are in the process of collecting and processing Substitute IRS Form W-9’s. Settlement checks will be mailed on or around February 23, 2017. Please allow up to 10 days to receive your settlement check before inquiring of its status. If you have moved since you submitted your claim, please contact the Settlement Administrator by mail at Hotel Call Recording Settlement Claims Administrator, c/o Rust Consulting, P.O. Box 2506, Faribault, MN 55021-9506.
I wonder if the 23rd was a typo or if they really are mailing it a day sooner. I haven’t posted on here yet but I received a w-9. Two calls for 924.87 each. My friend has eight calls! She travels on many weekends doing hair and make-up for weddings, so she has hotel stays at least three times a month during the busy wedding season. She’s and her husband are planning on going to europe with the money.
Is there an email I can use to contact the Settlement Administrator? I just moved yesterday and need to update my address.
