The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) issued or announced several refund payments during September.

Agora Financial FTC Refund Payments

About 35,000 people who purchased “The Doctor’s Guide to Reversing Diabetes in 28 Days” and “Congress’ Secret $1.17 Trillion Giveaway” from Agora Financial LLC and NewMarket Health LLC will be receiving FTC refund payments totaling more than $2 million.

The books’ publishers allegedly falsely promised “The Doctor’s Guide to Reversing Diabetes in 28 Days” would provide readers with a cure for type 2 diabetes, while “Congress’ Secret $1.17 Trillion Giveaway” would let them know how to claim money from the government.

The deadline to file a claim was Sept. 30, 2021.

Administrator Ankura Consulting Group will mail checks and issue PayPal payments starting Oct. 30, 2021.

Questions regarding this refund should be directed to Ankura at 1-833-460-2437 or info@AgoraFinancialSettlement.com.

Next-Gen FTC Refunds

People who lost money in a deceptive sweepstakes scheme operated by Next-Gen Inc., Opportunities Unlimited Publications Inc., and other companies will be receiving refunds from the FTC by the end of 2021, the agency says.

The FTC and state of Missouri sued the companies in 2018, alleging they sent sweepstakes and “game of skill” mailers to consumers throughout the United States and in other countries.

These mailers allegedly promised cash prizes in exchange for a fee; many people paid this fee a number of times before realizing the prizes weren’t real.

The defendants agreed to a $30 million settlement in the case. The FTC will use that money to make the refund payments.

More details are expected at a later date.

ReJuvenation FTC Refund Payments

The FTC will be sending refund payments to consumers who purchased ReJuvenation, marketed as an anti-aging “wonder pill.”

ReJuvenation was falsely marketed as a product that could reverse the aging process and fix age-related ailments, according to the FTC.

The claim deadline was Sept. 10, 2021. The FTC is reviewing the claims it received.

Questions may be directed to refund administrator Rust Consulting at 1-877-844-0319.

Campbell Capital FTC Refunds

The FTC is issuing refund payments to 603 people who paid debt collector Campbell Capital money they did not owe.

The company allegedly used deceptive and abusive methods, including threatening to have legal papers served at work, if the victims did not immediately make payments, according to the FTC. Campbell Capital representatives also allegedly posed as sheriff’s office employees or process servers to make their threats and often collected more money than was owed.

Refund checks must be cashed within 90 days.

Second Round of American Immigration Center Refunds

People who tried to renew their green cards or apply for naturalization will be receiving a second round of payments after American Immigration Center falsely implied its websites were affiliated with the U.S. government.

Beginning in 2010, American Immigration Center implied it was affiliated with the government and collected money from individuals who believed they were paying application fees, according to the FTC.

The first round of payments was sent out in March 2020, but because money remained in the fund, the FTC is sending out an additional 3,254 checks and 16,324 PayPal payments totaling nearly $1.2 million. These payments are going to people who accepted their first-round payments.

Those who receive checks must cash them within 60 days, while those who receive a PayPal payment must accept it within 30 days.

Anyone with questions may contact Analytics Consulting at 877-729-1539.

World Patent Marketing FTC Refunds — Second Payment

The FTC is sending second payments to people who were targeted by World Patent Marketing, a bogus invention  promotion business that failed to deliver on its promises and bullied consumers who complained.

The company allegedly accepted payments from inventors to patent and market their inventions; however, these promises were based on fabricated stories of success and testimonials.

The initial refund payments were made in March 20202, but with money still in the fund, the FTC is sending a second round of 2,322 PayPal payments and 1,080 checks worth more than a total of $153,292. These payments will go to those who accepted the first-round payment.

Those who receive a payment via PayPal will have 30 days to accept the payment. Those who receive a check will have 90 days to cash it.

Hold Billing Services FTC Refund Payments

The FTC is issuing more than $5 million in refund payments to consumers who lost money to a cramming scheme in which charges were added to their home phone bills without their consent.

As part of a settlement agreement, Hold Billing Services (also known as Billing Services Group) admitted it violated a court order when it added third-party charges to consumers’ home phone bills between July 2009 and March 2010.

The company added these charges without people’s consent and did not investigate when it received complaints, according to the FTC.

Checks must be cashed within 90 days.

Seed Consulting FTC Refunds

The FTC is sending out 8,843 refund checks to individuals injured by a company that charged them for funding allegedly meant to go toward expensive training programs, but instead opened credit card accounts in their names.

Training companies pitched Seed Consulting LLC — which also did business as Seed Capital and Foundation Funding — as a way to get money to people trying to start a business or become real estate investors, according to the FTC’s case.

Allegedly, the company is not a lender and did not provide funding. Instead, it charged people $3,000 or more to apply for credit cards, with credit lines totaling more than $50,000.

Checks must be cashed within 90 days.

Questions about this settlement should be directed to refund administrator JND Legal Administration at 833-823-0045.
