Update from the President of TCA

It’s October and we’re having a warm month but it’s cooling off nicely at night. Yay! Nothing like a cocktail with the one you love under the stars.

I’ve been out of the heat a bit as I bounce around the country meeting with fantastic current and future clients. This month I’ll be in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Washington D.C., Virginia and California. It will be crazy once we add Australia and Canada next year. Thankfully I’m spending weekends at home. My little girls keep getting bigger and I’m happy I’m not away for weeks at a time. I don’t know how P.T. Barnum did it! His auto-biography is a great read if you’re looking for business inspiration. He was away for months/years from his family so I’ve got it pretty good!

There’s been some interesting cases. The Wachovia Pick-a-Payment settlement checks went out and has been driving a LOT of discussion on the page. If you got paid, post a comment and let everyone know how you’re spending the money! You’ll be in good company!

As any new lawyer will tell you there’s no scarcity of attorneys looking for jobs. Just like anyone else they’ve been impacted by the recession. Well it turns out that some law schools may have been reporting inaccurate hiring statistics to get more students to get their JD. A class action lawsuit just expanded to include fifteen more law schools. It will be interesting to see how it pans out.

One more… It looks like Johnson & Johnson is paying out $48 Million to man who experienced a horrific allergic reaction after taking Motrin. He’s been permanently injured after developing Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis after taking the drug. Now Motrin has a warning about it, back then they didn’t, much to his pain. I hope they don’t appeal and pay the poor guy who lost much of his sight, senses of smell and taste and experienced neurological damage.

That’s all for now! Make it a great month and have a safe and happy Halloween!

Warm Regards,

Scott Hardy

President
