Actos Use Increases Risk of Bladder Cancer by 40% Study Shows
By Scott Hardy
A massive French study has shown that using Actos for more than one year increases your risk of bladder cancer by 40%. The study looked at 155,000 people patients who took the European equivalent of Actos. Those patients who took Actos for more than one year were 40% more likely to develop bladder tumors or cancer than diabetics who took another drug (or none at all.)
Actos bladder cancer lawsuits typically allege that Type II diabetics who are on the drug weren’t warned of the side effects of Actos. In addition, Actos class action lawsuits allege that doctors who prescribed Actos weren’t warned of the potentially deadly side effect of blader cancer or tumors even though Takeda Pharmaceuticals performed studies which showed the potential dangers of Actos.
Actos users need to know what the symptoms of bladder cancer are, especially if they have taken Actos for more than one year as it may increase the risk of bladder cancer by 40% or more. Actos lawsuits allege that Bladder cancer is a severe side effect of Actos. If you are showing signs of bladder cancer you should contact your doctor immediately and should be treated as soon as symptoms are detected. Symptoms of bladder cancer include tumors which may cause blood in the urine, painful or frequent urination, or straining during urination. In addition, other common signs of bladder cancer include fatigue, incontinence, weight loss and bone pain or tenderness. If you are experiencing these symptoms you should see a doctor immediately so bladder cancer or tumors can be ruled out or treatment started if necessary. If you are experiencing these symptoms and are diagnosed with bladder cancer or tumors you should speak with an Actos attorney to see if you are a good fit to file an Actos class action lawsuit or an Actos personal injury lawsuit. Patients filing Actos bladder cancer or cardiovascular problem lawsuits allege that they should have been warned of the life threatening side effects of Actos. Bladder cancer due to Actos can, and allegedly has, lead to death in multiple patients whose families have also filed lawsuits against Takeda Pharmaceuticals. In addition, the spouse or surviving family members of a patient who took Actos may be able to file a lawsuit, even if the spouse hasn’t passed away.
