Eye ointment recall overview: 

  • Who: Brassica Pharma Pvt. Ltd. is recalling some lots of its eye ointment sold at Walmart, CVS and AACE Pharmaceuticals Inc.
  • Why: The company cannot ensure the sterility of the eye ointment.
  • Where: The eye ointment recall is effective across the United States

Brassica Pharma Pvt. Ltd. is issuing a recall for eye ointment products sold at Walmart, CVS and AACE Pharmaceuticals Inc. due to sterility issues.

The Walmart recall applies to Equate Lubricant Eye Ointment with lot codes A2E01, A2L05, A2L05, A3C01 and A3H05, along with Equate Stye Lubricant Eye Ointment with lot codes A2D08, A2F02, A2I03, A2L03, A2L04, A3C03, A3C05, A3H01 and A3H03.

The CVS recall includes Equate Stye Lubricant Eye Ointment with lot codes A2F03, A2I02, A2L02, A3C04 and A3H04.

The AACE Pharmaceuticals recall includes Lubricant PM Ointment with lot codes of A2G01, A2G02, A3F08, A3F09, A3J17 and A3J18.

The sterility issues increase the risk of eye infections or related issues, the recall says.

No adverse effects reported from eye ointment recall, Brassic Pharma says

Brassica Pharma says it has not received any reports of adverse effects related to the recall so far. The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Consumers should stop using the eye ointment and return it to the place of purchase.

Kilitch Healthcare India Ltd. updated its eye drops recall to include the correct National Drug Code (NDC) numbers for two varieties of eye drops sold at Rite Aid.
