The retailers named in the class action lawsuit include GNC Corp., CVS Pharmacy Inc., Walmart Corp., Amazon.com Inc., Drugstore.com and Vitaquest International LLC.
The defendants have denied the allegations but agreed to settle the false advertising class action lawsuit to avoid the expense and uncertainty of ongoing litigation. Readers are reporting on our Facebook page that they have received checks worth between $7 and $28 from the Quick Trim settlement.
Class Members of the Quick Trim settlement include all U.S. consumers who purchased any of the following products for personal use between Aug. 14, 2009 and March 1, 2013:
- Quick Trim Sugar & Carb Cheater
- Quick Trim Fast Cleanse
- Quick Trim Extreme Burn
- Quick Trim Burn & Cleanse
- Quick Trim Hot Stix
- Quick Trim Fast Shake
- Quick Trim Satisfy
- Quick Trim Cellulism
Under the terms of the Quick Trim class action settlement, Class Members were eligible to receive a payment worth 25 to 50 percent of the purchase price they paid for the product(s) or they could elect to receive a coupon.
The deadline to file a claim for the Quick Trim settlement passed on Aug. 5, 2013, and the class action settlement was granted final approval on Aug. 14, 2013. However, it was appealed and therefore the payments were not distributed until recently.

The Permatex class action settlement resolves allegations that Permatex, a division of Illinois Tool Works Inc., violated various California laws by including a “Made in USA” label on packaging for automotive repair kits that contain less than 100 percent domestic content.
The defendants denied the allegations but agreed to settle the auto repair kit class action lawsuit to avoid the cost and risk associated with ongoing litigation. Under the terms of the Permatex settlement, Class Members were eligible to receive $2 for every qualifying product purchased in California from March 27, 2009 and Dec. 19, 2014 that bore the “Made in USA” label.

I am not happy with the settlement administrator Epiq Systems. Instead of the requested cash award in the form of the check, they sent me a gift certificate. I tried to resolve this matter by emailing them, but did not get the favorable resolution of this matter. I mailed their gift certificate back to them. Let them use it, as I don’t need it.
