Tesla tire pressure light recall overview:

  • Who: Tesla recalled certain 2024 Cybertruck, 2017-2025 Model 3 and 2020-2025 Model Y vehicles.
  • Why: The tire pressure lights in the vehicles might not work correctly.
  • Where: The Tesla recall is active in the United States.

Tesla recalled almost 695,000 vehicles, including some of its Cybertrucks, as the tire pressure light might not work properly.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration published the recall to its website Dec. 17. It applies to 694,304 vehicles, including certain 2024 Cybertruck, 2017-2025 Model 3 and 2020-2025 Model Y vehicles.

According to the recall, the tire pressure monitoring system warning light may not stay on between drive cycles, failing to warn the driver of low tire pressure.

“Driving with improperly inflated tires increases the risk of a crash,” the Tesla recall states.

Recall the latest in string of Tesla recalls

Under federal motor vehicle safety standards, all vehicles in the United States must comply with tire pressure monitoring standards, including ensuring drivers are aware of low tire pressure, according to the recall notice.

To remedy the issue, Tesla released an over-the-air software update to the vehicles free of charge.

The automaker says it expects to mail owner notification letters Feb. 15, 2025.

In November, Tesla issued its sixth recall involving its model year 2024 Cybertruck vehicles since they were released to the public last year. It says a defect affecting more than 2,400 Cybertruck vehicles’ drive inverters could cause them to suffer a loss of drive power.

I was affected by the failure of the low pressure warning light to remain lit causing me to be unaware that I was driving on a low tire which ruined my tire.
