The Economist agreed to a $9.5 million settlement to resolve claims it shared Michigan subscriber information with third parties without consent.
The settlement benefits Michigan residents who subscribed to a The Economist publication to be delivered to a Michigan street address or electronically between Feb. 4, 2015, and July 30, 2016.
According to the privacy class action lawsuit, The Economist shared subscription information with third parties without first getting the consent of Michigan subscribers. Plaintiffs in the case contend that this violated Michigan’s Preservation of Personal Privacy Act.
The Economist is a newspaper that offers physical and digital news subscriptions.
The Economist hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $9.5 million class action settlement to resolve these allegations.
Under the terms of the Economist Michigan settlement, class members can receive an equal share of the net settlement fund.
According to the settlement website, each class member is estimated to receive around $261. Actual payment amounts will vary depending on the number of participating class members.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Feb. 20, 2023.
The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for March 15, 2023.
Class members who received a mailed settlement notice do not need to file a claim form but may file an election form by April 12, 2023, to receive an electronic payment.
Class members who did not receive a mailed settlement notice must submit a valid claim form by April 12, 2023, to receive settlement benefits.

I was ripped off by exede internet aka wild blue aka Viasat. Started a fb group for others also lied too and screw out of money and service. And this practice hasn’t gotten any better!
I was handcuffed and detained at prairieville Walmart on suspension of theft but I did not steal anything
