DoorDash data breach overview:
- Who: DoorDash revealed that a data breach exposed the personal information of its drivers and an undisclosed amount of its customers.
- Why: DoorDash says the data breach was the result of a third-party vendor phishing campaign and that no sensitive information was compromised.
- Where: DoorDash is used by consumers nationwide.
Online food ordering company DoorDash confirmed in a blog post last week that a data breach exposed the personal information of its customers.
DoorDash revealed that personal information for an undisclosed amount of customers was exposed in the data breach, including phone numbers, names, email addresses and partial payment card numbers, among other things.
“We recently became aware that a third-party vendor was the target of a sophisticated phishing campaign and that certain personal information maintained by DoorDash was affected,” the company says in the blog post.
Drivers for DoorDash were also affected by the data breach with hackers able to access personal information including their names, phone numbers and email addresses, the company says.
DoorDash reassured its customers, however, that no sensitive information was compromised in the data breach.
“Based on our investigation to date, the information accessed by the unauthorized party did not include passwords, full payment card numbers, bank account numbers or Social Security or Social Insurance numbers,” DoorDash says.
DoorDash data breach has not led to identity theft, fraud, company says
DoorDash also says it has “no reason to believe” that any of the exposed personal information has “been misused for fraud or identity theft at this time.”
The DoorDash data breach occurred after the employee of a third-party vendor had their account credentials stolen and then used to access the internal tools of DoorDash, according to the company.
DoorDash did not reveal a timeline associated with the data breach, only that it had decided to fully investigate what had happened before choosing to disclose it to the public, TechCrunch reports.
The company says it has taken several steps in response to the incident and to prevent future data breaches, including enhancing its security and working with security experts, among other things.
“We value the trust we’ve built with each and every member of the DoorDash community, and protecting our platform and your personal information is a top priority for DoorDash. We sincerely regret that this attack occurred,” DoorDash says.
In related DoorDash news, a consumer filed a class action lawsuit against DoorDash last month over claims the company charges a hidden delivery fee.

Driver- app freezing, kicking me out, then my DasherDirect pay card had $400+ in fraud charges.
Contacted DD and after 3 weeks, for excuse after excuse on why they did not want to give me the money back. I was well within the terms of agreement and they tried to find every excuse NOT to reimburse me! Multiple phone calls and multiple emails which they denied even having a report of the fraud charges from me at first, then tried to claim they were reported AFFTR the ten day period, etc. It cause me to go into a flare-up with my autoimmune disease from the stress, this happened before Christmas, excess stress and anxiety. I was told first it would be 1-2 days, then another time 1-5 days then up to 60 days to “investigate” then after 3 weeks, they tried every reason NOT to pay me! I have everything documented and the last 3 phone calls recorded!!!!

I am a dd customer please add me
Right now someone is using my phone information on door dash and I can’t understand how….. one day I saw a unnecessary charge from them and I was never able to reach them.
My case is very complicated with DD, it happened on September 2022. My business bank account and login password was changed without my approval. I used Chase bank and it was changed to bank of America so all the sales for 2 weeks cost 2,500 was deposited to thief account. I contacted Doordash about this, they blamed on my side saying that it could be someone from the restaurant changing it and took the money. It is impossible! Why? Number one my restaurant is small with only 5 staff and no one get the access to DD merchant portal, only me that was assigned to get the access. Number two, DD has all the access, they know my password, bank account etc. They can find out whose account is that, but never reveal the info. They say it’s still under investigation, will contact me back and retrieve the fund that was deposited to thief’s account which I understand that but since September I still didn’t hear anything from them. I’m the small business owner, every penny worth a lot to us. I feel desperate, I don’t know what else I can do. I has police report, I’ve been writing complaints to a couple of website, sending email to DD supervisor and still seems like no hope for me. What should I do to get the money that belongs to us back? Please….
