Zithromax Side Effects Include Kidney Failure
By Andrea Gressman
Zithromax, also referred to as Z-Pak or azithromycin, is a very popular antibiotic that has been prescribed to millions of people across the United States. However, Zithromax has a long list of very serious side effects that most users are completely unaware of prior to use. It has now been reported that Zithromax has also been linked to causing kidney failure as a potential side effect to its users.
Other symptoms that a patient experiencing Zithromax kidney failure may experience include decreased urine production, drowsiness, vomiting, or even going into a coma. If you have experienced this type of Zithromax side effect it is important to speak with a Zithromax lawsuit attorney right away. You may be able to file a Zithromax lawsuit and receive compensation for your pain and suffering.
Zithromax may also cause a number of other symptoms that are also related to kidney failure. These include the following:
- Abnormal kidney blood test with an elevated “BUN” level
- Abnormal kidney blood test with an elevated “creatinine” level
- Acute kidney failure
- Decreased urination
- Inability to produce urine
- Interstitial nephritis
- Kidney disease
However, it is important to note that the abnormal kidney blood test with an elevated “BUN” level and the abnormal kidney blood test with an elevated “creatinine” level rarely occur.
Seek Medical Attention Right Away if You Experience Zithromax Side Effects
It is important for those who are using Zithromax to seek medical treatment immediately if they are experiencing the following symptoms:
An allergic reaction – This includes the development of hives, swelling of the patients face, including lips, throat, or tongue. It also includes difficulty in breathing.
Heart related issues – This includes uneven heartbeat and chest pains. This also includes any type of abnormal heart rate, which could involve fluttering in the chest, faintness, weakness, dizziness, or even loss of consciousness. These are all signs of a very serious side effect referred to as “torsade de pointe or QT prolongation”.
Kidney related issues – These include low fever, nausea, stomach pain, diarrhea that is watery or bloody, dark urine, jaundice (the yellowing of the skin or eyes), clay-colored stools, abnormal bruising, abnormal bleeding from the nose, gums, digestive tract, or if the patient is female, from the vagina.
Other severe side effects –Some of these include fever, headache, sore throat, severe blistering, peeling of the skin, or a red skin rash. This could also mean that the patient could be potentially developing Stevens Johnson Syndrome (SJS) or toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) as a Zithromax side effect, which are both very serious conditions and could be life threatening.
When Zithromax causes kidney issues there are a number of renal side effects. These include blood urea nitrogen, acute renal failure, interstitial nephritis, and elevations in serum creatinine. These things can all result in permanent renal failure and have been reported in patients who have been taking Zithromax, also known as Z-Pak or azithromycin.
There have been many different Zithromax lawsuits filed for a variety of very serious side effects that have been linked to the use of Zithromax, kidney failure included. These types of medical side effects can be quite costly and it is important that you receive the compensation needed to care for your long-term health needs. At the age of 104 should a z-pack be used for pneumonia? Can it damage organs such as liver and kidney?
I was prescribed ZPack for bronchitis. Never been allergic to any antibiotics for 30 years. By day 4 on pill I was projectile vomiting for a whole day. Never had this happen in my entire life. Dizzy and spinning. So naucious. On 5th day still so I’ll. Got sick again and literally almost stopped urinating. My kidneys were affected badly. Notified my primary of very adverse reaction to this along with my other 2 specialists.
My daughter took zpack for her first time in late August this year, she then went into the hospital and was diagnosed with sever acute tubular necrosis. She was just put on the zpack again and is having the same symptoms that she had 2 months ago and I fear will wind up back in the hospital and put on another round of steroids. She is 13. Is this a theme with the zpack? Is there anyway to prove this is the cause and help I can be given?
My daughter was 5 when she was prescribed zithromax. She got hives felt very ill. Our pediatrician at the time advised me to keep her on zithromax as it was “just a red rash”. Long story short she ended up in the hospital with kidney failure. Had a biopsy and put on steroids, referred to a pediatric kidney specialist. She was hospitalized for weeks. She did recover. She is now 28. We looked into suing years ago but out local attorney didn’t feel confident enough at the time. I would NEVER give that crap to a child.
Can kidney disease show up a few years after taking Zpack? I was prescribed Zpack twice in about 2014 and 2015. Now, 2 and 3 years later, my GFR is dropping from the mid 40’s to mid 30’s. Could this be from the Zpack?
I became sick with a serious cold about 2 months ago I went to my family Dr. who prescribed me Z pack I became extremely sick about a week into taking this drug. I woke up and felt like someone kicked me in the middle of my back under my ribcage. I could not eat or drink everything tasted like metal I had to start taking 2 omeperazol a day because of acid reflux. I knew something was wrong I went back to my dr. They sent me for a ultrasound Which came back that I now have a secondary medical renal disease . Just went back to my dr. Today and I am being sent to a kidney specialist. The Z pack made me so sick and I do believe that it affected my kidneys. I’m not sure what to do now .
Your omeprazole probably had a equal weight on damagimg your kidney
