Yasmin DVT Side Effects Cited in New Lawsuits
By John Curran
Cases regarding popular oral contraceptives continue to haunt Bayer Pharmaceuticals, including three claims from women who say they dealt with Yasmin deep vein thrombosis side effects and related blood clot conditions.
Sandra Rinehardt, Jacquitta Ward and Dewanna Williams all took dual-hormone birth control pills, and Ward alleges that she faced Yaz stroke side effects. All three said that Bayer Pharmaceutical knew that the Yasmin family of medications was linked to a higher risk of blood clots than earlier oral contraceptives. The claims may not be able to be proven, but the women are likely to receive settlements with the help of their Yasmin lawsuit attorneys.
Thanks to the work of Judge David Herndon who oversees one large group of cases, the drug maker has already settled with thousands of women to make its legal problems go away and not have to admit any wrongdoing. If Rinehardt, Ward and Williams receive payouts for Yaz stroke side effects and related problems in line with recent Yasmin settlements, they could see roughly $200,000 according to recent data.
Unfortunately, while the FDA has required Bayer’s advertising to inform customers of the increased risk, it has not gone as far as regulatory agencies in other countries. If the three women lived in France, doctors would use the medications as a last result, as the French version of the FDA says that Yasmin deep vein thrombosis side effects are too dangerous compared to the benefits.
New drugs by Bayer and other makers are coming onto the market, and they list the same side effects like those noted by Yaz lawsuit attorneys in their claims. It is unclear whether or not they will be any safer, however, as birth control side effects were reportedly not a problem until thousands of adverse effects were reported. It may take several years for women to truly know what risks they face.
Unfortunately, that is of little help to those who already dealt with these problems. Legal remedies are available to those who have been dealing with birth control side effects like pulmonary embolisms. Since the drug maker is already settling with plaintiffs, payments to help with treatments and lost quality of life could come more quickly than in other cases, so get started today.
