OTC: The Worst Idea for Ocella Side Effects Yet

By John Curran

Yaz Yasmin blood clotsYour gynecologist knows your family history for strokes or pulmonary embolisms. They also know your age and whether or not you are a smoker. Unfortunately, a drug store cashier does not, which is why a recent statement about risking even more Ocella stroke side effects is so worrisome.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists want oral contraceptives to be available over the counter (OTC). In spite of Beyaz blood clot risks, they argue persuasively on several points:

1) Plan B emergency contraceptives are available without a prescription for woman, although age-restricted.

2) Other countries sell oral contraceptives without a prescription, including Mexico, without worrying about Ocella stroke side effects.

3) Many OTC medications have similar side effects profiles, such as allergy medications and Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, or aspirin internal bleeding side effects.

There are several major differences between these and Beyaz blood clot risks, however. Aspirin has been used for decades, so if people are not aware of potential side effects, it is reasonable to assume that they should be. However, the number of claims against Bayer for its much more profitable contraceptive pills are all predicated on the fact that Yaz pulmonary embolism conditions were not mentioned on the packaging when the medications were launched.

More importantly, the number of plaintiffs’ claims over Ocella blood clot side effects are due to the popularity, and admittedly not the average risk. This is likely to grow, however, if there is no gynecologist consultation without the awareness of what causes excessive clotting. Until the risks and side effects, as well as factors like smoking and age that impact them, are well known, requiring a doctor’s consultation may be of more help than harm to women who are looking for contraceptive options.

Without it, it is reasonable to expect hundreds more claims filed by Ocella lawsuit attorneys. Gynecologists and women with the prescription are still not aware of the side effects nor the things that make them even more likely.
