Bayer Continues to Pay Yasmin/Yaz Injury Settlements

Yaz, Ocella and Yasmin contain a hormone called drospirenone. This hormone can be found in a variety of other birth control pills, including Beyaz, Safyral and the Yaz and Yasmin generics: Gianvi, Loryna, Syeda and Zarah.

 In 2009, the federal Food & Drug Administration (FDA) required Bayer to update the product labels to include warnings about the risk of blood clots and other significant injuries associated with drospirenone birth control pills.  In one of the studies commissioned by the FDA, Bayer’s contraceptive pills were associated with twice as many blood clots as other birth control pills.
