Acella agreed to a $41.4 million NP Thyroid settlement to resolve claims it falsely advertised the thyroid medication as containing a specified amount of the active ingredient.
The settlement benefits individuals who received a dispensed prescription for NP Thyroid between May 12, 2018, and April 30, 2021, whether Acella recalled the NP Thyroid lots or not.
According to the false advertising class action lawsuit, Acellaโs NP Thyroid had an inconsistent amount of the active ingredient. Some batches of the medication allegedly contained too much of the active ingredient while other batches contained too little, making the medication ineffective or unsafe.
Acella manufactures NP Thyroid, a thyroid medication that treats hypothyroidism.
Acella hasnโt admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay more than $41.4 million to resolve the class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the NP Thyroid settlement, class members can receive up to $10 without any documentation of the prescriptions they received. With additional documentation, class members can collect up to $50 for the prescriptions they received.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is April 22, 2024.
The final approval hearing for the settlement was scheduled for May 14, 2024.
To receive NP Thyroid settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by Nov. 30, 2024.

I have been treated for Hypothyroid since 2005 and not exactly sure for how many years I took NP meds but I know for sure it was stopped right around 2020. I gained lot of weight that I struggled and still struggle to lose, lost half of my hair, extreme dry skin, fatigued, brain fog and the whole enchilada but the medication should make me feel better, or why am I taking it. I donโt really have proof of that exact NP med that I took but can prove that Iโm treated for Hypothyroid since 2005 โ current. I should and everyone who is treated for Hypo or Hyper Thyroid we all should be compensated regardless of having that specific proof or not.
