A settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit accusing Inline Network Integration of failing to protect individuals’ private data when an unauthorized party gained access to Inline’s systems in a security breach.
The settlement class consists of anyone residing in the United States to whom Inline sent its notice of the data security incident that Inline discovered on or about March 12, 2022.
By allowing the security breach, the plaintiff asserted, Inline Network Integration was guilty of negligence, negligence per se, breach of fiduciary duty, intrusion upon seclusion and invasion of privacy and violations of the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act. The private information that was allegedly compromised included full names, addresses, and Social Security numbers.
Inline Network Integration is a fully managed IT service company providing companies in a wide range of industries with professional IT solutions and support. The company is based in and primarily serves consumers in Texas but has clients across the country.
The company denies any accusations of wrongdoing but has agreed to the settlement to resolve the claims.
Settlement class members can receive a number of benefits from the settlement.
Class members may claim reimbursement for up to $500 in ordinary out-of-pocket expenses and fees for credit reports, credit monitoring or other identity-theft insurance products purchased between March 12, 2022, and the date of the settlement agreement.
As part of this $500, class members also may claim compensation for up to three hours of lost time spent dealing with the data breach at a rate of $20 per hour, for a maximum of $60 per person.
Class members may also claim reimbursement for extraordinary losses in documented identity theft, not to exceed $5,000 per settlement class member, and credit monitoring and identity theft protection with $1 million in insurance.
Inline has also agreed to continue to provide security for the private information and protected health data in its possession or control; this will be paid for separately from other settlement benefits.
The deadline to opt out of or object to the settlement is Dec. 6, 2023.
A final fairness hearing in the Inline Network Integration data breach class action lawsuit settlement will take place Dec. 13, 2023.
