Connexin Software agreed to pay $4 million to resolve claims it failed to prevent a 2022 data breach that compromised patient and employee information.Â
The settlement benefits individuals whose personal information was compromised in the Connexin Software data breach in August 2022.
According to the class action lawsuit, Connexin Software failed to protect patient and employee information from a cyberattack in August 2022. The breach allegedly compromised the Social Security numbers, health insurance data, employment information and other sensitive identifiers of around 3 million individuals.Â
Connexin Software, which operates under the name Office Practicum, is an electronic health record software provider.Â
Connexin Software hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $4 million settlement to resolve the data breach class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the settlement, class members can receive up to $7,500 for documented out-of-pocket losses related to the data breach or a pro rata cash fund payment. Reimbursement payments will vary depending on the types of losses claimed, while cash fund payments will vary depending on the number of pro rata claims filed and the cash fund after reimbursement claims are paid.
Instead of receiving cash payments, class members can choose to receive three years of free identity theft and fraud monitoring.Â
The deadline for exclusion and objection is June 25, 2024.
The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for July 24, 2024.
To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by July 25, 2024.
