AAA Collections agreed to a $865,000 class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims that it could have prevented a 2022 data breach that compromised sensitive employee information.
The settlement benefits individuals who receive a data breach notification from AAA Collections Inc. informing them that their information may have been compromised in a September 2022 data breach.
According to the class action lawsuit, AAA Collections could have prevented a cyberattack in September 2022 if it implemented reasonable cybersecurity measures. Plaintiffs in the case claim that, because of AAA Collections’ alleged failures, cybercriminals were able to access employee names and Social Security numbers.
Advanced Asset Alliance (AAA) Collections is a debt-collection agency.
AAA Collections hasn’t admitted wrongdoing but agreed to pay $865,000 to resolve the class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the settlement, class members can receive reimbursement for up to five hours of lost time compensated at a rate of $25 per hour, for a maximum lost-time payment of $125.
Class members can also recover a $50 pro rata payment, although this amount may be adjusted higher or lower depending on the number of participating claimants.
Class members who experienced documented out-of-pocket losses as a result of the breach can submit a claim for up to $5,000 in additional reimbursement for these losses. This could compensate class members for unreimbursed damages sustained through identity theft or fraud. In order to be eligible for reimbursement, the losses must be reasonably traceable to the 2022 data breach.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Jan. 15, 2024.
The final approval hearing for the class action lawsuit settlement is scheduled for March 25, 2024.
In order to receive settlement payments, class members must submit a valid claim form by Feb. 13, 2024.

Please add my name. Thanks.
Recently, I have become homeless, lost my mother and others as well as employment all in less than 6 hour time frame. Since I have no way to know if I or those in my family who have passed on, have any correspondence indicating that included in anything. Is there a way to find out if anyone is involved or included in anything without it being illegal or wrong causing trouble of any form from just inquiring about it? Not just for this one but any other breach or suit at all? I just want to do things correctly, I have way more than I can handle to battle with as is not to be needing more negative thrown in the mix. Please let me know if there’s anything I can do to find out if myself or anyone I have lost recently is included in anything at all. I know I must include certified death certificates to represent them. Being the only one left, guarantee no battle of who rep’s who here either. I just want to make sure I can do something to help make things right and ensuring those in the wrong don’t get off scott free, especially if they are involved definitely with impure intentions purposely harming others. I don’t like bullies and bad people who enjoy being that way, causing harm or otherwise anything negative to happen someone innocent not deserving bad things happening to them.
I want to be in the law suit
I believe my information was also breach I have been a year member but was never told about this breach.

I recall getting a letter in the mail awhile back about a data breach with my info from a collections company but I don’t remember the name of the collection company!? I’m not trying to file a claim for the wrong company & get in trouble. How can I find out whether this is the correct company?
