Online sports betting company FanDuel has been hit with a class action lawsuit claiming it provided bettors with inaccurate scores and game times, inducing wagers based on false information.
Filed Tuesday in Illinois federal court, lead plaintiff Andrew Melnick seeks to represent more than 6 million consumers across 10 states where online sports betting is legal, including Illinois, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Indiana, Iowa, Colorado, Tennessee, Virginia, and Michigan.
Melnick, an Illinois resident, claims that he and others were duped into thinking they were placing much more advantageous bets based on the false information provided by FanDuel on its sports betting app that purports to provide “real time” information to bettors.
He says that he made an “over/under” bet in February of this year on FanDuel concerning a men’s NCAA college basketball game. Melnick says that he placed a bet based on the remaining game time information provided on FanDuel; however, he later found out that the game time information provided by the online betting company was off by up to 35 percent from the actual time.
Melnick says that after he discovered the discrepancy in game time information provided by FanDuel’s app, he attempted to get a refund by calling customer service; however, he says his request was denied.
In his class action lawsuit, he contends that the false information is no mistake. Instead, “while purporting to provide its customers with real-time, live sports game data, FanDuel regularly understates the time remaining in a given live sporting event in order to induce its customers to make wagers that they are more likely to lose, and/or that are riskier, than if they were being provided accurate, real-time information in connection with their live wagering,” says Melnick’s lawsuit.
In addition to false info about game times, the class action lawsuit contends that FanDuel provides inaccurate information about the score of the game. Class Members “have made and lost wagers that they would not have made had they known the actual time remaining in the given sporting event or, in the alternative, they would have, instead, wagered on the ‘Over’ and won that wager, rather than losing a wager placed on the ‘Under.’”
The plaintiff, who also points out that he has opted out of FanDuel’s arbitration clause, claims that he, along with hundreds of thousands of other FanDuel customers, have lost millions of dollars by placing bets based on false information provided by the app.

I made a bet and they posted SMU as taking a 7 point lead in double ot when they never started the drive I took a payout and lost out because Baylor actually won. They intentionally misled to get people to take the buy out
Absolutely agree with this, when gambling with FanDuel at least, the odds change up and that’s how you know what the scores closer to than what it actually says. If you’re not careful, and pay attention you will lose that bet every time just about. There’s probably two to three second delay from real time to what FanDuel time says on their clock.
Is this still ongoing? They repeatedly provided fake live bet information. Including giving incorrect live scores. Happened to me multiple times for thousands of dollars
They’ve been stealing from me for a while! Tonight, was the end for me! On the OKC vs MIN game, they falsely had Shai Gilgeous Alexander, with more assist & rebounds than he had at the time of my live bet(s); I even have screenshots of them falsely reporting 10 assist!!! They continuously steal from me, and my bets!
I have screenshots, tons of them from tonight 49ers at Seahawks game if FanDuel delaying scores an hour at a time on purpose to cause myself and other bettors to believe false scores, false time, false stats, all of it. I have screenshots of tons of stuff. I also have them ending a game with almost 2 minutes left. Claiming it was “ended”. And showing bets being settled long before they were. When in fact the game was still going. I also have screenshots of a bonus I opted in to deposit $750 and get $75 bonus. It’s claiming I deposited $610 and have to deposit MORE! Mind you I’m a “VIP” which all that did is raise all the bonus deposits and wagers I need to make, yet they NEVER give me money. I’ve had to contact my rep many of times asking and rarely I get something, usually denied. I have screenshots of my spending and losses and everything. I wagered over $600,000 from October 2022 alone. That’s how much business they get from me. Down $122,000+ in losses. Yet they treat me poorly. Disregard me. Scheme me. Cheat me. They’ve changed outcomes of wins after the game and told me nope you lost. I know they’ve cheated me out of tons and tons of money. I make so many bets it would take forever to go through. But if it’s what needs to be done, I’m all for it. I want to file a lawsuit as well. Just like Merrick ( I believe his name was). I have tons of photo evidence. Also now it’s saying promotion can’t load even though it doesn’t expire until midnight. Screenshot is from 11:44 pm. This is how they.l cheat us all! Especially those who bet a lot cause it’s easier to hide. Please contact me so I can get what I’m owed and you guys can get your share for handling it. They think they are slick robbing us blind. Well I’ve been collecting evidence. Please contact me!
This has happened to me countless times since 2018 and I’ve attempted to get responses from fanduel. They claim it’s a 3rd party vendor providing those scores and times so they are not liable. But clearly something can be done here I am just not sure what and how I can do it
This happened to me several times, and now they’re locking in your bets at numbers you don’t want. For example, I took the over at 52.5 but after I placed the bet my number went down to 50.5 then jumped up to 54.5 and locked me in there and of course I lost. They deceive and you and then steal your money, I have screenshots to prove it and I’ve told them but they don’t care.
