SensaSprinkle some “magic” crystals on you food and magically lose weight? Sounds like a scam, yet thousands of consumers have bought Sensa, a weight-loss system that claims overweight consumers can lose 30 pounds or more simply by sprinkling its special weight-loss crystals on their food, all without dieting or exercise. Now a federal class action lawsuit is challenging these claims, alleging Sensa Products and Dr. Alan R. Hirsch are selling snake oil.

The Sensa class action lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court of San Francisco, claims Dr. Hirsch and his company trick consumers into buying Sensa crystals by using marketing claims not backed by scientific proof.

According to its sales pitch, consumers simply have to sprinkle Sensa onto their meals and snacks to lose weight. The Sensa sprinkles, or “Tastants,” are supposedly clinically proven to help speed up the process that triggers your body’s “I feel full” signal so that you eat less and feel more satisfied. People who use Sensa, the website says, can lose 30 pounds or more, without changing their diet or exercising. These claims, Sensa says, are supposedly backed by one of the “largest clinical studies ever conducted on a non-prescription weight-loss product.” The Sensa class action lawsuit, however, says these claims are false, misleading and unsubstantiated without any competent scientific evidence to support them.

According to the Sensa lawsuit, Dr. Alan R. Hirsch, M.D., who appears in promotional materials for Sensa, may be a board-certified neurologist, but he is a also a “particularly sophisticated hustler, one with a medical degree and a thick stack of junk science to support the claim his magic crystals are ‘clinically proven.’”

Dr. Hirsch has been able to get by with this, the class action lawsuit charges, only because over-the-counter weight-control products have not been regulated as drugs since 1994, when Congress largely removed supplements from FDA regulation.

The Sensa class action lawsuit claims Sensa is a scam, and that Dr. Hirsch and his company have violated various California laws, including those dealing with false advertising and unfair business practices.

I was fool enough to try this product twice. The first time I tried it, I thought I wasn’t using it right or not using enough. I waited 2 months and then bought it again. I did not lose any weight even though I did try to eat less just to lose the weight faster. I want in on this lawsuit because for the first time in years I thought I had found something that would work. Very disappointed and mad as heck.

Just lost my $90 to Sensa’s “pre-collection” agency today. What a scam. How can we stop them?

How do we hook up on a lawsuit? They’re calling people with a collection agency. We need to stop this. You don’t logically expect to be hit with a $90 a month subscription when ordering A SAMPLE! Please. Tell me we’re getting together on this.

Just pass my 30 day trial (9/10) )Saturday and the following day after using Sensa that morning my sight started going Hazy and very sensitive to light. My blood pressure is almost 20 pts above my norm. My breathing slightly abnormal. You do feel tightness in the chest and No did not lose any weight on this product. All week long, been to my eye dr, retina specialist, and my physician. Did this to check my vitals and make sure this is not permanent damage to my vision.
I wouldn’t recommend this product to any one. Diet and Exercise I recommend. I’m hoping my sight comes back to normal so I can get back in the gym.

I stopped suing Sensa back in early 2013, by then I had not seen any lost by that time and because I had began to have this taste in my mouth I couldn’t get rid of. And I had no weigbt lost results. I started to also have some vision problems, I started to have light flashes in my eyes. I went to the eye Dr. He could not tell me why light flashed in my eyes, and my vision has dropped tremendously. I would not have thought that it could have been caused my the use of the Sensa. However the does not work, it seems to becausing more damage than what it suppose to be meant for.

The “Free Trial” email does not mention an apparent “auto billing” after 60 days. I noticed the CC bill of $89 at the beginning of May, yet no product. I am working with the CC company to get this reversed.
    SENSA is a SCAM.
Why can they be shut down ?!

    1. Christine Schiller says:

Not only is this stuff JUNK – Try cancelling your “subscription”… SEVERAL times I have called to cancel their auto-subscription and NO ONE ANSWERS the phone! And when you try to cancel on line the page just freezes and you can’t cancel. I am irrate over this FRAUD company.

    1. Bebe says:

      Hello All,
First & foremost, I am NOT affiliated with Sensa in any way, shape or form. But, by reading some of these comments, it seems I am the only one to have success with this product. I haven’t had any of the side effects mentioned in these posts and I lost 36 pounds in 4 months. I stopped using the product in the 4th month because it didn’t seem of the same consistency as the previous months. I did not buy direct from Sensa, but from Amazon. It’s too bad none of the people making the comments were able to lose weight and believe me I know how frustrating things can be. I have spent a fortune on weight loss products, books, programs, clinics, etc, etc, etc! All with the same result. So when this product worked for me, I was stoked. I don’t know if a positive comment will be posted with all these negatives but it’s worth a shot!

    2. Denise Hibbler says:
