Curtis International has issued a recall for about 634,000 Frigidaire-brand minifridges due to potential fire and burn hazards.
The Frigidaire minifridges recall affects several models, including EFMIS129, EFMIS137, EFMIS149 and EFMIS175, which were sold across the United States and Canada.
The recall, announced on July 24, includes minifridges with specific serial numbers. These units, sold in 6- and 9-can sizes, were available in various colors, such as black, blue, green, white, yellow, red, pink and silver. According to the recall notice, the internal electrical components of these minifridges may short-circuit, leading to the ignition of the surrounding plastic housing.
Consumers are advised to stop using the affected minifridges immediately and follow the instructions provided to obtain a refund.
The recall notice instructs consumers to unplug the unit, cut the power cord and mark the front door with “Recall” before disposing of it in accordance with local and state regulations.

The Frigidaire recall follows reports of 26 incidents where the minifridges have smoked, sparked, burned, melted, overheated or caught fire, resulting in property damages exceeding $700,000. Two consumers have reported injuries related to smoke inhalation, highlighting the severity of the issue.
“Consumers who have this product should discontinue use immediately and return it to the place of purchase or discard it,” the recall notice advises.
Curtis International is actively working to mitigate the risks associated with these minifridges by offering refunds to affected consumers.
