A Wisconsin couple has filed a Monsanto cancer lawsuit against the Roundup manufacturer claiming that the husband faced cancer as a result of exposure to their product.
Plaintiffs Richerd H. and Katerina H. claim that Monsanto, the agricultural giant, contracted with Richard’s company of employment, Agricetus, to create crops that were resistant to the herbicide, Roundup.
He worked, according to this Monsanto cancer lawsuit, as a manager at a facility that used Roundup to develop these crops from 1990 to 1996.
Richard was regularly exposed to Roundup, an herbicide created by Monsanto that contains the active ingredient glyphosate. Glyphosate is a chemical that kills weeds but has also been determined to be a probable carcinogen.
When he worked at Agricetus, Richard was “exposed to, ingested, inhaled, and dermally absorbed Roundup and the chemicals contained therein as a result of frequent and regular contact with crop plants treated with Roundup and by regularly and frequently being present in the environment where crop plants had been treated with Roundup,” his Monsanto cancer lawsuit states.
He says that he had no reasonable way to understand that his regular exposure to Roundup was risky and he claims that Monsanto should have been able to anticipate that glyphosate would be detrimental to the health of those that worked at Agricetus, including Richard.
Richard believes his cancer is a result of his regular Roundup exposure non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
His Monsanto cancer lawsuit claims that Richard has been “disabled, disfigured and impaired in the enjoyment of recreational/life activities,” and that he has incurred and will continue to incur hospital expenses as well as other health and medical related costs.
He also claims that he has undergone pain and suffering and will continue to undergo this in the future. He requests compensatory damages and punitive damages.
This Monsanto cancer lawsuit brings forth claims of negligence, willful and wanton misconduct, strict liability and loss of consortium.
The International Agency for Research Cancer determined in 2015 that glyphosate, the ingredient in Roundup, was linked to cancer. Other international studies support this finding.
Besides non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, glyphosate has been connected with many different deadly and debilitating conditions including leukemia, multiple myeloma, b-cell lymphoma, bone cancer, kidney cancer, DNA damage, chromosomal damage, and skin tumors.
Roundup has been around for over 40 years. Monsanto has promoted this weed killer product as safe for children and animals, “practically non-toxic,” and “safer than salt.”
But many like Richard believe that these claims are false and deceptive and that they mislead people who are unaware of the risks with the product.
If you or someone you love has been exposed to glyphosate from Roundup weed killer and has developed non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma or other cancers, you may be eligible to file a Monsanto cancer lawsuit.
