Update: Lowe’s Drywall Settlement Gift Cards Arrive

By Mike Holter

Lowe's drywall settlementIt’s been a long road for Class Members of the Lowe’s drywall class action lawsuit settlement, but several Top Class Actions readers have reported they finally received their settlement benefits in the mail this week.

The Lowe’s drywall settlement was reached in July 2010, but was delayed due to at least two appeals and one amendment to the class action lawsuit settlement agreement. Plaintiffs in the Lowe’s drywall class action lawsuit (entitled Glen Vereen v. Lowe’s Home Centers, Inc.) alleged Lowe’s sold defective Chinese drywall that emitted sulfide gasses and other chemicals that not only emitted a noxious odor, but also damaged homes by corroding metal surfaces. Lowe’s denied any wrongdoing, but agreed to a $7.75 million class action settlement to resolve the litigation.

Consumers who purchased or installed defective drywall from Lowe’s before July 27, 2010 had until July 15, 2011 to file a claim to receive between $50 and $4,500 from the class action settlement.

Special thanks to Top Class Actions reader Pattrick M. for alerting us that gift cards from the Lowe’s drywall settlement are finally being mailed to Class Members.

I just happened to catch this update by accident…but to date, I have not rec. ANY gift card or notification. While not a contractor, I had purchased quite a few panels of this crap when remodeling several years ago, but like everything else, it was not a receipt I kept because there was not “warranty” thought about for drywall at the time.

Who else had probably NOT gotten a card for this?

I’m sure not all people who submitted proof of damages recieved the right amount. Just call the 800 number on the letter and they will check your evidence. They did that to me and now they will be sending me 4,250 in a gift card and 100k check.
