Sharp LCD TVClass Members who filed claims for the LCD price-fixing settlement may finally receive checks in the mail as early as next week.

According to the LCD price-fixing settlement website, the claims audit and verification process has been completed and the court was scheduled to make a determination about whether to distribute the funds on Oct. 17. Details of the hearing have not yet been made public.

Although the LCD class action settlement website has not yet been updated, it has been reported that checks may go out as early as next week. More than 233,000 checks will reportedly be mailed to businesses and consumers in 24 states. Claimants are expected to receive $43.49 per laptop or monitor and $86.98 per television.

The LCD panel class action lawsuit was filed in 2006 following an investigation into allegations the world’s largest LCD manufacturers had conspired to fix the price of flat screen panels since 1999. Several companies have pleaded guilty and been convicted of criminal charges related to the antitrust allegations. The companies have reportedly paid more than $1 billion in fines.

The LCD class action lawsuits alleged consumers were overcharged for electronic devices with flat panels due to the price-fixing scheme. They were eventually consolidated in multidistrict litigation (MDL) titled In re: TFT-LCD (Flat Panel) Antitrust Litigation.

The companies named in the flat panel class action lawsuit include AU Optronics, Chi Mei Optoelectronics, Chunghwa Picture Tubes, HannStar Display Corp., Hitachi, LG, Samsung, Sharp and Toshiba. There have been a total of 10 LCD class action settlements that, when combined, are worth close to $1.1 billion.

Class Members of the LCD antitrust class action settlement include consumers in 24 states who purchased televisions, laptops and desktop computers with LCD screens between Jan. 1, 1999 and Dec. 31, 2006.

The LCD price-fixing settlement is not only the largest settlement of its kind in U.S. history, but it is also one of the most consumer-friendly settlements to date. The deadline to file a claim for the LCD class action settlement passed on Dec. 6, 2012.

NEW MEXICO – I got my check dated 10/28 for $86.99 but the check doesn’t have a watermark like it says so. I’m a little concerned about depositing it. Maybe I should wait a week or two and see what happens???

    1. MommaBee says:

I just got off the phone with Huntington Bank and they confirmed the check is valid and there are funds available. My bank said to wait 3-5 days to use it just in case but that if there isn’t any funds available they would take the amount plus a fee for reversing the check. Crossing my fingers all is good but I feel a bit better about it. Too bad my check wasn’t as big as some of the others

Got the check today in Sac, CA. But it was a lot less than the claim filed. The check was for one laptop and one TV but the claim was for a lot more. What a BS.

All is well! Check cleared this morning. For those curious, I mobile deposited on Sunday, it went through this morning (Tuesday). Most money I’ve had in the bank for quite some time!! Good luck everyone!

I received payment for two monitors on Fri 10/31/2014, but received nothing for the two televisions that were part of the claim. I am in West Virginia, and the check came via the West Virginia Attorney’s Office, God knows where that is. Called the office that is handling this mess, said they had no claim for televisions. This is ridiculous!!!!

I received a check for $400+ but I also do not recall ever filing a claim. I too almost threw it out b/c the envelope looked like junk mail. “Time dated material enclosed – open immediately” – similar to those solicitation loans that come randomly. Did some of the department stores file claims or were some claims filed automatically if you did not opt out? Just curious. I would not have had the records of the purchases to file my claim I do not think. I came to the internet thinking it was some kind of scam.

I received a check yesterday for $130.14. Looks like I was paid for 3 computers however I claimed 3 computers and one monitor. Has anyone gotten less then what they expected? I’m grateful either way just wondering what what happened to the other $40. My bank (Chase) cashed the check no problem or questions asked.

        1. Angela says:

I was only paid for one tv and I claimed a monitor and one computer.

        2. TLC says:

Yep. I got the same amount $130.14 and I sure expected a larger amount too. I filled the claim out for my mom and my cousin and they both got more. One received $478 and the other one got $300. Can’t understand why.

  10. MoDoe says:

Got mine today in Sacramento, Ca for $305 and my mom got one for $86…I have not deposit into bank account but will post when i do… Sure not to be a problem although i see others comments… Good luck and enjoy
