Global Credit & Collection TCPA Class Action Settlement

A class action lawsuit settlement has been reached with debt collector Global Credit & Collection over illegally calling people with an automated dialing system to collect debts. As a result, anyone who received an autodialed call from Global Credit between 2004 and 2008 could receive as much as $70 from the class action settlement.

The Global Credit & Collection class action settlement will resolve a class action lawsuit, titled Lemieux v. Global Credit & Collection Corp., that alleges Global Credit violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) by using an autodialer or a prerecorded voice message to call approximately 27,844 debtors on their cell phones without their prior consent. 

As part of the class action lawsuit settlement, Global Credit has agreed to pay up to $70 to every person it illegally called if they file a valid and timely claim form before the deadline of August 10, 2011. You’re considered a class member of the Global Credit settlement if you were contacted by Global, as identified in Global’s records, between June 5, 2004 and June 30, 2008, without prior express consent, through the use of an automatic telephone dialing system or artificial or prerecorded voice message which resulted in a live connection or a prerecorded voice message.

Most class members in the Global Credit TCPA class action settlement have received post-card notices in the mail, which indicate they fit this description.
