Ford Defective 6.0L Engine Class Action Lawsuit
By Mike Holter
The Ford engine class action lawsuit states that despite being launched with “great fanfare” in 2002, by the end of its short production life, Ford’s 6.0L Engines had unprecedented repair rates, accounted for approximately 80% of all of Ford’s warranty spending on engines, and forced Ford to assemble a team of approximately 70 engineers to assist Ford’s supplier in identifying and resolving problems.
“Ultimately, Ford sued its engine supplier, Navistar, for $493 million for what it termed ‘exceptionally high repair rates and warranty costs due to quality problems attributable to Navistar,’ including ‘design flaws,’” the class action lawsuit continues.
The defective Ford engine class action lawsuit says Ford documents show that (1) Ford knew about issues regarding the 6.0L Engine even before the engine’s launch; (2) the same core concerns persisted throughout Ford’s production and sale of the 6.0L Engine; (3) Ford never had a “definitive repair action” for these issues; (4) most, if not all of these concerns had a “common cause;” and (5) Ford ultimately adopted a band-aid approach to reduce its “warranty spend,” without addressing the “common causes” of these problems.
The Ford defective 6.0L diesel engine class action lawsuit is brought on behalf of all California entities and residents who currently own or lease (or previously owned or leased) a vehicle with a Ford 6.0L diesel engine. It is seeking numerous damages, including:
– Out-of-pocket damages for engine repair/service;
– Deductibles paid when repairs were covered by warranty;
– Towing charges incurred from having incapacitated vehicles towed in for repair;
– Lost profits from the inability to use vehicles when the engine failed, the vehicle being stored at a Ford dealership awaiting repair, or the vehicle being insufficiently reliable to be put into service;
– Cost to overhaul or replace the defective 6.0L Engines;
– Diminution in value of the vehicles due to the defect;
– Decreased trade-in or selling value; and more.

We have bought a 2006 Ford- F250 6.0 L. Diesel Power Stroke Engine and it also has blown a head gasket just like everyone else’s has. I’ve read about the class action lawsuit pending against the Ford Motor Co. I would appreciate any notification if the Ford Motor Co. loses the lawsuit and how to file a claim if I’m able to. Thanks
I own a 2005 F-350.gone down the same road as everybody else.$4000.00 later.Is there any help out there? Just as frustrated as everyone else.Would like to get my money back.
i have a 2006 f350 that has been sitting for ayear its just been paid off and it only has 55000 miles just like everyone else egr caused a headache i just do no where to turn
Dame as everyone else ….1000s in repairs and back in shop today. I HATE THIS TRUCK!
We lost money 4 years ago after we purchase a Fidelity Warranty ! We were told that car warranty insurance went out of business ! We purchased that car warranty after seeing the Ad on NASCAR !
We bought the 2004 Ford F 350 4 door Super Duty Lariat 4X4 Dully new over $55,000. We loved our new beautiful truck! First new truck we ever purchased new , second new vehicle in a thirty year marriage. In love with our new Ford 4 door4X4 dully around to all of are family! Shorty soon after all the newness had settled down the first problem arises! Approximate one month on the way to work and I was headed to work 230am when my wife said is the ford losing power ? I said its crazy but i think something is wrong! I was a little shocked on what was happened from 45 miles an hour to around 10 miles a hour. We were late to our job, which is very very important. We had an load to be pickup with our Peterbuilt truck at Lockheed Martin. It was at the time a load sensitive controlled loading and unloading with cranes and extra personal at both ends of the pickup and delivered location ! So as making the pickup location at the time that was dispatched cost me so much money for being late for a great customer! The damages to us was more than the cost of fixing the truck that Ford fixed under warranty! It cost me a company that would not use us again because we were late! We never trusted this vehicle because of the possibility getting caught on the road breaking down! Over $50,000.00 stuck with a lost to trade in will lose so much more money! We are now both totally disabled now with this beautiful F350 sitting in our drive way only 38,000 miles on our Ford F350 our dream pickup . the only thing now is we want to trade it in but no one will give us $5,000.00 in trade in! the insurance, the fuel cost is so upside down.This truck has cost us in Insurance,Fuel,Vehicle cost (purchase)Plus parts and labor ! Work lost due to not performing to its full capacity of worthiness. $92,650. ($57,000.00 work lost due to performance) total $149,650.00 after 11 years! So we have gone the mile ! Ford needs step up and acknowledge their engineering!
My husband and I bought a beautiful 2007 Ford F350 in February of 2010. The truck only had 17000 miles on it. We spent almost $45,000 on it used. Had no idea about all these problems until a friend who has same truck with same engine had to replace his recently. Now ours has only 70,000 miles on it and Fidelity put a new warranty on it in March of this year. Now they are refusing to pay for the cost of repairs saying that carbon has built up in the inner housing. We are looking at over $2000 in repair costs and after all we have been reading we are not sure that this will solve the problem or that another costly repair wont come around. I am looking for help. I have read that Ford sued Navistar for 493 million and won about this engine.
I bought a F55o with the 6.0 and have replaced the HPOP four times in 52,000 miles please let me know how to be part of this lawsuit!
Is the class action still ongoing and can we still join the lawsuit. Just bought a 2005 F-350 that someone traded in because of a cracked head and it was not disclosed at the time of sale. it seems to be one of the common problems with these trucks. Thanks for any help you can provide
