City of Chicago Vaccine Mandate Lawsuit Overview:

  • Who: Twelve City of Chicago employees are suing the city over its vaccine mandate.
  • What: The employees say the vaccine mandate is a violation of their constitutional and civil rights.
  • Where: The lawsuit is pending in Illinois federal court.

A dozen City of Chicago employees have banded together to demand the city’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate is blocked, or at least that they can get paid while they deny the vaccine, according to a new lawsuit.

The plaintiffs filed the complaint and demand for a temporary restraining order Oct. 31 in an Illinois federal court.

They allege their constitutional and civil rights have been violated by Chicago’s mandate that all city employees be vaccinated by Oct. 15, or undergo twice weekly testing.

The mandate requires employees to enter their vaccination status into an online portal or face unpaid leave or suspension.

City of Chicago Employees Object to Turning Over Medical Info, Claims Class Action

The plaintiffs include an unvaccinated asphalt laborer who has worked with the City of Chicago for 21 years, an unvaccinated concrete worker who has worked for the city for 21 years, and a vaccinated detective who has worked for the city for 25 years but who does not want to put his medical information in a city-managed portal.

In the court filing, the plaintiffs say they are seeking an injunction and restraining order “to maintain the status quo of our city employees and to put an end to this involuntary game of Monty Hall millions of Americans have been compelled to involuntary play.”

According to the complaint, if the Illinois judge does not grant the injunction, city workers will suffer irreparable harm as their fundamental rights are “trampled.”

“If Defendants are not enjoined from enforcing the Vaccine Mandates, hundreds of thousands of city workers will be forcibly removed from our government, thrusting our nation into a state more vulnerable than the city has experienced in a quarter of a millennium,” the lawsuit states.

The plaintiffs add that, even if the judge does not grant a restraining order against the vaccine mandate, it should at least grant one forcing the City of Chicago to keep paying workers who cannot come to work as they have not got the vaccine.

They’re suing under the First, Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments of the US Constitution, and the Civil Rights Act.

The lawsuit is the latest in a series of legal challenges to vaccine mandates nationwide.

Similar legal action has been taken by other government employees who object to the rising tide of vaccine mandates.

Last month, a group of servicemembers, federal employees, and federal civilian contractors filed a class action lawsuit against US President Joe Biden, the US secretary of defense, and the US secretary of homeland security, claiming the federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate violates their Constitutional religious rights.

Earlier, in Hawaii, thousands of first responders joined a class action lawsuit filed against government officials over the state’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

    1. No Thanks says:

All these “officials” claiming they’re desperate to fill jobs vacancies- including CTA, the VA, and Chicago city jobs all require new employees to have or get the jab. Yet, they’re exempt. They best realize their scheme failed and drop the b.s. !
