Dr. Brandt is one of the biggest names in anti-aging products, and is best known for its rejuvenation creams. However, legal and medical experts state that this company, like many anti-aging cosmetic corporations, is not all it seems. These experts encourage customers to educate themselves on the ingredients of these products and their efficacy.
Dr. Brandt is most famously known for advertising its products as “the antidote to cellular aging,” explaining that through DNA technology, its products can either reverse-engineer or stop the aging process. The company’s website explains that the Dr. Brandt anti-aging products work by targeting the “mistakes and malfunctions” that occur during the oxidation process. The products promise to interfere in the oxidation process, which can allegedly stop the development of lines, wrinkles, sagging, dullness and loss of volume of the face.
“Do Not Age truly represents the next frontier of anti-aging,” the Dr. Brandt website says. “When it comes to how we age, science has shown us that we don’t always have to accept what we were born with. Your DNA has programmed you to an extent, but now we’re cracking that DNA code and changing the skin-aging process. We’ve cracked the code once and for all to develop an anti-aging breakthrough that not only reverses existing signs of age, but prevents future aging by teaching skin to act young at the cellular level.”
Each Dr. Brandt Do Not Age product label states that the cream, serum, or lotion was manufactured using the company’s ‘Juvenescence + Complex’ formula, which claims to use DNA technology to resolve the skin of natural aging signs, and even reverse some of its effects. The company addresses cellular aging in these three points in their advertisements:
- These products strengthen the mitochondria to boost production of the cell’s energy and optimize cell respiration to jump-start skin metabolism
- These products allow the body to produce healthy cell duplication and proliferation
- These products claim to decrease the production of progerins to lengthen cell lifespan, ultimately improving skin firmness and restoring skin rejuvenation.
Overview of Anti-Aging False Advertisements
As glamorous as the promises sound, the basic fact of the matter is that aging is inevitable. While medical experts agree that some of these products do “hide” the signs of aging through proven rejuvenation science, these products do not ultimately halt the aging process. There is currently no established “fountain of youth” or quick fix to minimize the signs of aging, as many customers to these products find out. Most customers complain that the products take too long, do not work at all, or actually cause negative skin reactions.
Dr. Brandt is no exception to this rule, as many customers have complained that the products were too small of a unit for the price they paid, and not worth the money they paid. Many cosmetic companies conceal or do not fully disclose the ingredients which compose their products, which has caused some outcry from a portion of the public. This alleged misrepresentation has led to many false advertising lawsuits, and several product liability lawsuits.
