Going to the movies these days can cost an arm and a leg, but we have a class action lawsuit settlement with AMC Theatres that could save you some cash next time you catch a flick.
The AMC Theatre class action lawsuit settlement will resolve allegations that AMC violated the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA) by printing the first four and last four digits of credit and debit card numbers on customer receipts. As part of the class action settlement, AMC has agreed to distribute 282,314 Voucher Packets containing four vouchers, each redeemable for one free small popcorn. If you’ve bought movie theatre popcorn lately, you know this is a great way to save money. Best of all, the popcorn vouchers will never expire. If any Voucher Packets are left over after distribution to claimants, then they will be distributed by AMC at the Automated Box Office machines located at certain theatres involved the class action lawsuit.
You’re considered a class member of the AMC settlement and eligible to receive the free AMC popcorn vouchers if you were provided an electronically printed receipt by AMC between December 4, 2006 and January 29, 2007 that contains the first four and last four digits of your credit or debit card number. It’s simple – all you have to do is submit a claim form no later than May 20, 2011. No proof of purchase necessary! (As long as you sign, under penalty of perjury, that you meet the class member guidelines.)
