IMG unpaid internship

A settlement has been proposed in a class action lawsuit alleging IMG Worldwide LLC violated New York Labor Law by failing to pay minimum wage to interns.

If you were an unpaid intern for IMG Worldwide, IMG Productions and/or William Morris Entertainment LLC in New York before May 31, 2017, you may be entitled to compensation from the IMG intern class action settlement.

Plaintiff Richard Carden, a former IMG intern, filed the IMG class action lawsuit on behalf of himself and other IMG interns to recover allegedly unpaid minimum wages.

Under federal and state law, employers are required to pay minimum wage to their employees. Unpaid internships are not illegal; however, the internships must meet specific criteria to be allowable. The law is designed to prevent companies from using interns as free labor. Therefore, the company must offer other valuable benefits such as college credit to unpaid interns to avoid minimum wage violations.

The defendants deny that they violated the law and maintain that they do not owe any of its interns wages. However, they have agreed to settle the IMG unpaid intern class action lawsuit to avoid the burden, expense, inconvenience and uncertainty of ongoing litigation.

Class Members who would like to opt out of the IMG intern settlement must do so no later than Oct. 31, 2017.
